VIDF Presents Par B.L.eux's SNAKESKINS This Weekend

The Vancouver International Dance Festival (VIDF) presents Par B.L.eux's provocative Snakeskins from March 12-14, 2015 at 8pm at Roundhouse Performance Centre. Described as a 'fake solo' by Montréal-based choreographer and performer Benoît Lachambre (the artist is accompanied on stage by dancer Daniele Albanese and musician / multi-instrumentalist Hahn Rowe), the multimedia work is a visually spectacular meditation on new growth through the shedding of old skin.

School of American Ballet's 2015 Winter Ball Raises Over $1.39 Million

The School of American Ballet's 2015 Winter Ball took place at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater on Monday, March 9, 2015 and raised more than $1.39 million for scholarships and school programs. Legendary French jeweler, Van Cleef & Arpels sponsored the glamorous, black-tie dinner dance for the eighth consecutive year. The evening began with cocktails at 7pm and dinner at 8pm, followed by a student performance choreographed specially for the occasion, and The Encore dessert and dancing. The proceeds from this event enhance every aspect of the School's extraordinary ballet training program, helping to provide more than $1.9 million annually in student scholarships, as well as supporting faculty, maintaining world-class studios and offering vital student programs beyond the classroom.
American Repertory Ballet to Host Annual Gala, 3/21

On March 21, 2015, American Repertory Ballet will hold its annual Gala performance and reception, The Dream, in downtown New Brunswick, NJ. The performance will begin at 6:00pm at Crossroads Theater, and the reception will begin at 7:00pm across the street at the Heldrich Hotel. The reception will include a gourmet dinner, dancing to the music of The Kenny i Orchestra, auctions, and more. Free valet parking will be provided. Princeton Ballet School students ages 12-18 years can enjoy a Junior Gala party with dinner, dancing and silent auction, also at the Heldrich Hotel.

One of the world's leading contemporary dance companies, The Lyon Opera Ballet is renowned for its vast repertory of work by emerging and established choreographers. The company has acquired and commissioned ballets by a wide range of international dance makers including Jirí Kylían, Nils Christe, Nacho Duato, Trisha Brown, Ralph Lemon, and Bill T. Jones, among others. Anna Kisselgoff of The New York Times hailed Lyon Opera Ballet as “a company full of surprises,” marked by “impressive individuality [and] versatile dancers.” The company returns to Meany Hall with a mixed program: William Forsythe's Steptext (a quartet set to J.S. Bach), Sunshine by Emanuel Gat and Sarabande by Benjamin Millipied.

The evening will feature a candid interview of Mr. Forsythe by PNB artistic director Peter Boal, a peek behind the curtain to watch Mr. Forsythe working with PNB dancers, and an opportunity for audience members to ask questions. This is Mr. Forsythe's first visit to PNB to work directly with PNB dancers, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome this groundbreaking artist to our studios.
