Jenny Q Chai Plays Carnegie Hall, 4/19

Performing works by Inhyun Kim, Ashley Fu-Tsun Wang, Marco Stroppa, Kurtag, Messaien, Ligeti, Debussy, and Schumann, pianist Jenny Q. Chai makes her Carnegie Hall debut at Zankel Hall on Thursday, April 19 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $30 ($15 for students) and will be available beginning February 19th at www.carnegiehall.org, at the Carnegie Hall Box office at 57th street and 7th avenue in New York City (which is also the location of the venue), or by calling 212 247 7800.

Music Director Jacques Lacombe and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) join the United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ (UJC) to present the 15th annual benefit concert in support of the United Jewish Appeal of MetroWest NJ (UJA) on Sunday, April 22, at 3 p.m., at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark. Internationally renowned pianist Yefim Bronfman performs Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3.
Guest Conductor, Michael Christie to Lead Atlanta Symphony, April 26-28

Guest conductor Michael Christie will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in a program featuring the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra premiere of Weinberg's 'Rhapsody on Moldavian Themes' and the Orchestra premiere Schubert's Symphony No. 8, "Unfinished," as completed by Marcel Tyberg. Guest pianist Behzod Abduraimov will make his Atlanta Symphony debut playing Mendelssohn's 'Piano Concerto No. 1.' The performances will take place April 26, 27, and 28, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Emory's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts welcomes the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) on Thursday, April 12 at 8 p.m. Joining the ACO will be New Zealand opera star Teddy Tahu Rhodes. The concert program includes Mahler, Shostakovich, and modern composers such as Robert Saxton. Teddy Tahu Rhodes will performing Beethoven's An die ferne Geliebte and Richard Rodney Bennett's Songs Before Sleep.

Grammy nominated conductor Nicholas McGegan brings his artistic approach to the Pasadena Symphony in a concert of Mozart and Beethoven on March 31 at 2 and 8 pm at Ambassador Auditorium. The concert features one of Beethoven's towering achievements - the mighty Symphony No. 3 "Eroica", plus Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, which Beethoven revered above all others for its elegance, beauty and tenderness performed by award winning Armenian pianist Nareh Arghamanyan, as well as Mendelssohn's Fair Melusina Overture.

Maestro Edward Cumming leads the orchestra in works that include Also Sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss and Symphony No. 3, also known as the Organ Symphony, by Camille Saint-Saëns, which features Ezequiel Menéndez, organ, also Director of Music for the Cathedral. The Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil) and Omniverse Vision Ltd. announced today that the critically-acclaimed performance featuring world-renowned Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil, LA Phil LIVE: Dudamel conducts Mahler 8, "Symphony of a Thousand," will be broadcast to movie theaters in more than 30 locations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, beginning March 19. The broadcast from Caracas, Venezuela, showcases Dudamel leading the two organizations that have been so prominent in his life, the LA Phil and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, in a dynamic performance of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 8, "Symphony of a Thousand."

Rudolf Buchbinder Releases Live Recordings of Beethoven Concertos (DVD) & Sonatas (CD) in 2012

On January 31, pianist Rudolf Buchbinder's live performance (as pianist and conductor) of all five of Beethoven's Piano Concertos with the Vienna Philharmonic will be released in the US as a 2-DVD set by C Major/Unitel Classica. The concerts were filmed live in May 2011 at the Goldener Saal der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna. In addition to the performances, the DVDs include a conversation between Buchbinder and music journalist Joachim Kaiser as bonus material.

Christoph von Dohnányi will lead the New York Philharmonic in seven concerts in January that will feature works by Dvorák, Schumann, Jörg Widmann, and both Brahms piano concertos, with pianists Yefim Bronfman and Radu Lupu as soloists. The first concerts, Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, January 14-15, at 8:00 p.m., will comprise Widmann's Con brio, Concert Overture for Orchestra, Schumann's Symphony No. 4, and Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2, with Yefim Bronfman as soloist. Mr. Dohnányi will conduct the Orchestra in the Rush Hour Concert on Wednesday, January 19, at 6:45 p.m., with a program comprising Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Radu Lupu at the keyboard. The concert on Thursday, January 20, at 7:30 p.m., will feature Widmann's Con brio, Concert Overture for Orchestra, Schumann's Symphony No. 4, and Dvorák's Symphony No. 8. Mr. Dohnányi will conclude his visit with the Philharmonic on Friday and Saturday, January 21-22, at 8:00 p.m., conducting Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Mr. Lupu, and Dvorák's Symphony No. 8.
