In honor of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph's 50th anniversary, The Hartt Symphony Orchestra presents a concert on Sunday, March 11, at 3:00 PM, at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, 140 Farmington Avenue, Hartford. Maestro Edward Cumming leads the orchestra in works that include Also Sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss and Symphony No. 3, also known as the Organ Symphony, by Camille Saint-Saëns, which features Ezequiel Menéndez, organ, also Director of Music for the Cathedral. A suggested donation of $20 will be collected at the door. For more information please call the University Box Office at 860.768.4228 or 800.274.8587 or visit http://www.cathedralofsaintjoseph.com/music-sacredsounds.html.

Maestro Cumming said, "The opportunity for us to play in the magnificent space at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph is always a great experience-no less so this time around, as the Hartt Symphony Orchestra explores great music for organ and orchestra. Of course many people will recognize the first two minutes of Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra from "2001: A Space Odyssey," but they may not be as aware of all of the glorious music that continues beyond the opening fanfare."
