Santa Barbara Symphony Announces 2017-18 Season by BWW News Desk
- April 14, 2017 Subscription sales have begun for the Santa Barbara Symphony's 2017-18 season, which will open October 14 with an extraordinary all-Mozart program accentuated by a ballet world premiere. The orchestra will present a total of nine enthralling programs at the Granada Theatre over the course of the season, including a pair of non-subscription concerts. Series packages start at $62.

Since 1959, the choir has been resident at Copenhagen Cathedral and as part of its duties performs at state occasions and during royal visits abroad.

- April 13, 2017 The closing concert of the season on Thursday, May 11, at 8:00PM at Alice Tully Hall will be featuring two of Rossini's famous overtures, The Barber of Seville and William Tell; Clementi's Symphony No. 4; Paganini's 'La Campanella' from Concerto No. 2and Nardini's Violin Concerto in e minor with violinist Krista Bennion Feeney. Italian music of the Classical Era continued a long tradition of virtuosity in stringed instruments. By the beginning of the 19th century, Italian violins, violinist-composers and the violin repertoire had advanced to levels of flamboyance unrivaled anywhere else in Europe. Muzio Clementi's rarely heard symphony features virtuoso string passages unlike those of his contemporaries. Rossini's ebullient overtures complement the sentimental NardiniViolin Concerto in e minor and the fiery Paganini La Campanella. This concert will be conducted by Thomas Crawford.

- April 12, 2017 At a free concert open to the public on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 3:30pm, members of the MET Orchestra Musicians visited The New York Public Library's Fort Washington Branch in Washington Heights to perform a “Musical Read-Along” of “Buzzard and Wren Have a Race,” from the book A Ring of Tricksters, by Virginia Hamilton and the book Icarus Swinebuckle by Michael Garland. The music was composed by Robert Miller, husband MET Orchestra violinist Elena Barere. The books were read aloud to children and families by local New York City Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez, and MET Orchestra violinist Bruno Eicher.

Toronto Symphony to Tour Israel and Europe by BWW News Desk
- April 12, 2017 After a couple of preview concerts at home on May 3 and 4, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and its Music Director, Peter Oundjian, embark on a momentous Tour of Israel & Europe. The Canadian orchestra—touring Israel for the very first time—performs in Jerusalem at Sherover Hall, Jerusalem Theatre, Israel's largest centre for art and culture; and at the Charles Bronfman Auditorium in Tel Aviv, home to the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Next, the Orchestra travels to Vienna, Regensburg, Essen, and Prague, as part of the famous Prague Spring International Music Festival, which is celebrating its 72nd year. Over the course of the seven-concert, five-city tour, distinguished Russian violinist Maxim Vengerov, celebrated Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki, and dazzling Canadian soprano Carla Huhtanen will join the TSO as featured soloists.
