Patterns in a Chromatic Field is a late work (1981) by Morton Feldman (1926-1987), an 80-minute odyssey for cello and piano exploring different degrees of stasis and patterns of harmony and color. Patterns in a Chromatic Field reflects Feldman's lifelong fascination with the Abstract Expressionist painters: “My compositions are not really 'compositions' at all,” Feldman said. “One might call them time canvasses in which I more or less prime the canvas with an overall hue of music.”

Early Music Vancouver presents War and Peace: The Tallis Scholars, on April 21, 2018 at 7:30pm at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at UBC. Led by director Peter Phillips, the renowned vocal ensemble perform a programme commemorating the centenary of the end of the First World War. Their meticulously curated program draws from nearly 500 years of composition and ranges from the Renaissance works of Palestrina and Mouton, to contemporary compositions by Arvo Part and John Tavener. The pieces are combined into a complete but varied setting of the Catholic mass that manages to evoke both the glory and intensity of battle and the serene melancholy of senseless loss.

André Raphel  returns to the Mann Center of the Performing Arts to conduct the Philadelphia Orchestra in “A Night of Gershwin” on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 8pm.  The All-Gershwin program will include the Cuban Overture, the Piano Concerto in F with Curtis pianist Micah McLaurin, making his Mann Center debut, Porgy and Bess, A Symphonic Picture and also An American in Paris.  The concert is the closing of the Philadelphia Orchestra's Mann Center Residency.

In 2014, Live From Lincoln Center went on location to Kentucky's Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill with The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center to produce the first program in its series history outside of New York City. Now, the two institutions reunite to once again make history as they travel abroad for Live From Lincoln Center's first production outside the U.S., tentatively titled Odyssey: The Chamber Music Society in Greece. CMS will also make history with its April 11 concert at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), marking the center's first presentation of a musical organization from the U.S.

The Grammy-nominated string orchestra A Far Cry and pianist Simone Dinnerstein have teamed up on a new recording of keyboard concertos by Philip Glass and J.S. Bach. The album, entitled Circles, will be released on Glass's Orange Mountain Music label on May 11.
