Cyrano de Bergerac

Martin Crimp's blisteringly raw version of Cyrano de Bergerac has been a great success so far during its run at The Playhouse Theatre in London's West End. After screening over 80 theatre productions in the last ten years, NT Live are now screening this theatrical masterpiece all over the world.

When you enter a theatre to a soundtrack of Stormzy and open the programme to see a Beatboxer listed on the credits, you know that this is probably not a traditional staging of a nineteenth century play. Much anticipation has been building for Martin Crimp's new adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac. Directed by Jamie Lloyd and starring James McAvoy, this magnificent show has stardust sprinkled all over it.

Jamie Lloyd said, 'Alongside the 15,000 £15 tickets and 15,000 free tickets we're offering across the Playhouse season with the support of British Airways, we have decided to open up tonight's dress rehearsal of Cyrano de Bergerac to the public on a pay-what-you-can basis.

After joining Jamie Lloyd in his Doctor Faustus at the Duke of York's Theatre and featuring in his Pinter at the Pinter season, Tom Edden is jumping back on stage with the director to star alongside James McAvoy in Cyrano. His credits name-check long-running shows like Les Misérables and Matilda, as well as plays of the likes of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui at the Donmar and Amadeus at the National Theatre. We caught up with him to chat all things Cyrano and what makes Lloyd such a special director.

The Jamie Lloyd Company, the successful partnership between Ambassador Theatre Group, the UK's leading theatre company, and artistic director Jamie Lloyd, in association with British Airways announced the full cast for Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac, freely adapted by Martin Crimp, directed by Jamie Lloyd. Joining the Golden Globe and Olivier Award nominated James McAvoy (Cyrano de Bergerac) to complete the cast are Michele Austin (Ragueneau), Adam Best (Le Bret), Sam Black (Armand/Priest), Nari Blair-Mangat (Valvert), Philip Cairns (Referee), Tom Edden (De Guiche), Eben Figueiredo (Christian), Chris Fung (Usher), Adrian Der Gregorian (Montfleury), Carla Harrison-Hodge (Denise/Medic), Seun Shote (Theatre Owner), Kiruna Stamell (Marie-Louise), Nima Taleghani (Ligniere), and Anita-Joy Uwajeh (Roxane) with Vaneeka Dadhria, Mika Johnson and Brinsley Terence.

The first £15 performances go on sale today, Monday 4 November, at 12pm for The Jamie Lloyd Company's production of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac, freely adapted by Martin Crimp, directed by Jamie Lloyd and starring Golden Globe and Olivier Award nominee James McAvoy. In association with British Airways, £15 tickets will be offered throughout the season as part of the company's commitment to making theatre more accessible.
