Music Of Curiosities Presents its Season Premiere

The season premiere of Music of Curiosities, the innovative monthly music concert series showcasing the unique, the beautiful and the extraordinary in genre-defying music performance is on Friday, April 19th at 9PM, live on stage in Coney Island. Headlining the first show of the 2019 Music of Curiosities season is Brooklyn's Surreal Folk Rock Duo COOKIE TONGUE, with a Special opening set by the hauntingly beautiful CHARMING DISASTER, all on the legendary sideshow stage at ConeyIslandUSA on the corner of Surf Avenue and West 12th Street.

Triskelion Arts Presents: The Bipeds 54 STRANGE WORDS

'The Bipeds dance-theatre company of Durham, NC presents the New York premiere of 54 Strange Words, a surreal music and dance production. A scorching rock & roll band lead by banjo player Curtis Eller joins Choreographer, Stacy Wolfson's cast of visceral dancers to present a sepia-tinged, psychedelic song and dance spectacle. The line between the dancers and musicians dissolves as the performers descend into a strange and mysterious world of nightmare imagery. Musicians become dancers, dancers become singers, and unhinged howls of wild abandon give way to moments of harmony and grace.'

David Gow Joins Cast Of Site-specific Hit BLEACH Beginning March 6

David Gow will join the cast of the US Premiere of BLEACH by Dan Ireland-Reeves beginning March 6. This award-winning underground hit, seen throughout the UK as well as in Paris, Stockholm and Dublin, made its US premiere in January in an intimate, immersive production performed for an audience of 10. Gow will join current performers Eamon Yates and Brendan George, sharing the role of Tyler, a young man trying to find his way while paying the rent in NYC. Audiences are invited to join Tyler at Tyler's Basement in Bushwick, Brooklyn for this dark and humorous look at sex, violence, and city living. Directed by Zack Carey, performances run through March 24.

The OMNI Ensemble Continues Its 36th Season With Trios Plus!

The OMNI Ensemble will continue its 36th season of concerts at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 8:00 pm. The program will feature music for flute, cello and piano. Also being performed are improvisations by The OMNI Ensemble featuring the Kora, an indigenous African string instrument. Music will be Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata op. 28, arranged for trio by Jim Lahti, Bohuslav Martinu's Trio for flute, cello and piano, Peter Schickele's Summer Trio, Michael Sirotta's Emanations Of Blue Light-A Rhapsody for Flute and Piano, and electronic and acoustic improvisations by The OMNI Ensemble featuring the Kora. Musicians are David Wechsler - flutes, John Cheek - keyboards, with guest artists Eric Cooper - cello and Salieu Suso - Kora.

The duo of playwright/director William Burke and composer Catherine Brookman return to JACK with a 'theatrical seance for listening,' co-directed by Burke and Bryn Herdrich. As the final show at JACK's current location, the audience and performer will collectively strip the space of its contents over the course of the three-week run, leaving it empty by the final performance. Through this process of emptying, the team will strive to clear the air of distractions and ask us to help each other and take care of our brains in the most theatrical of ways.

Smith Street Stage (Beth Ann Hopkins, founding Artistic Director), the award-winning Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn-based theatre company, announced its planned tenth season for 2019. Among the productions planned are the tenth consecutive mounting of its cornerstone Shakespeare in Carroll Park production (an outdoor production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Shaun Bennet Fauntleroy), and the company's first foray into long-running indoor theatre in Manhattan (Lear's Shadow, an original production devised by Beth Ann Hopkins and Elliot Roth from Shakespeare's King Lear, running at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre).
