After six successful editions in Amsterdam, and a New York pilot in 2017, the Craft In Focus Festival will be making its return to New York, and taking place Saturday, May 18 to Monday, May 20, 2019. The three-day festival will transform Industry City in Brooklyn, NY into an open workspace and present hands-on workshops for people of all ages, master classes and demonstrations, focusing on master craftsmanship. For more information on the Craft In Focus Festival, please visit: craftinfocusnewyork.com.

The rich programming of the Craft In Focus Festival is meant to appeal to a wide audience: from curious novices to skilled professionals. In a world where children are swiping their iPhones and 3D printers are building houses, and a time of serial mass production and consumption, the beauty of handmade quality products and hands-on experience of learning technique directly from an artist should be revalued.

Guests can look forward to workshops including, but not limited to: calligraffiti by Dutch artist Daan Wille, airbrush by Dutch expert Marissa Oosterlee, eco-dyeing by textile institute HAWAR from the Netherlands, basketry by master Esme? Hofman, along with spoon making by Brooklyn Metal Works, stained glass by Glass Art of Brooklyn, backstrap weaving by Weaving Hand, suminagashi by Textile Arts Center, robot making and boat building for children by Open Source Gallery and KokoNYC, graffiti by KEO, and much more.

This year's Craft In Focus Festival has partnered with Wanted Design Brooklyn, is part of the IC Design Festival and partner of NYCxDesign. Festival founder, Wendy van Wilgenburg, shares, "The Craft In Focus Festival is excited to be back in Brooklyn to celebrate master craftsmanship with a large audience of all ages. Come and get your hands dirty during workshops and master classes by renowned international masters. Expect violin making, graffiti, weaving, stained glass, stone cutting, jewelry making, calligraffiti, fashion design, and more."

The Craft In Focus Festival will take place in New York City on May 18-20, 2019 at Industry City, Brooklyn. For more information, please visit: http://craftinfocusnewyork.com/.
