The Legend of Georgia McBride is a hilarious, high-energy theatrical event packed with iconic music, outrageous comedy and showstopping performances audiences will be talking about all summer long. Featuring crowd favorites like “I Will Survive,” “The Final Countdown,” “Don’t Cry Out Loud” and “Born This Way,” the show blends the joy of a live concert, the heart of an underdog comedy and the sparkle of a Vegas-style performance into one unforgettable night at the theatre.
Broadway’s Michael Wartella stars as Casey, an Elvis impersonator barely scraping by in a small Florida bar whose life takes an unexpected turn when he’s suddenly thrown into the world of sequins, wigs and larger-than-life stage personas. What starts as a desperate gig quickly becomes a wildly funny and surprisingly moving journey of self-discovery, friendship and finding the confidence to step into the spotlight. Joining Wartella are BTG favorites Shayne Haley and David Adkins, bringing powerhouse vocals, comedy and unforgettable stage presence to this joyful celebration of music, performance and transformation.
Directed and choreographed by Isadora Wolfe, whose acclaimed BTG production of Metamorphoses captivated audiences last season with its striking theatricality and emotional power, this production promises dazzling performances, bold theatrical flair and nonstop entertainment. Wolfe, an Artistic Associate for Punchdrunk (UK) and former Associate Artistic Director and Resident Director for the New York production of Sleep No More, brings a dynamic physical storytelling style that perfectly matches the exuberant spirit, humor and heart of this feel-good comedy.
Equal parts laugh-out-loud funny, uplifting and irresistibly entertaining, The Legend of Georgia McBride is a feel-good celebration of music, friendship and self-expression and the perfect summer night out for audiences looking to laugh, sing along and leave the theatre smiling.
