The Carlisle Project at Emerson Paramount Center, Robert J. Orchard Stage

Dates: 4/30/2027 - 5/2/2027

The Carlisle Project is a musical song cycle blending song, satire, and ceremony to reckon with the legacy of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School, which was founded in the 19th century to forcibly assimilate Native peoples. Ronee Penoi (Laguna Pueblo, Cherokee, and a Carlisle descendant) serves as composer/lyricist and Annalisa Dias as lyricist/book-writer, weaving stories of the past, present, and future to build pathways for hope and healing for Native peoples. Directed by Madeline Sayet (Mohegan) and performed by an all-Native cast of music theater artists, the work serves as a re-storying for both Native and non-Native Americans.
