ART Presents LITTLE ROBERT; Runs Through 11/23

By:

The second production of the 2013-14 season presented by American Repertory of WNY is a story of the legendary bluesman Robert Johnson entitled LITTLE ROBERT, written by prolific and award winning local playwright Mark Humphrey (author of the acclaimed MR. BENNY and the one-act presented through ART/WNY's One Act showcase, MECHANICS).. Directed by Gail Golden (fresh from directing last season's uproarious MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS) features the talents of award winning actor Hugh Davis and Robert Ernie Insana.

LITTLE ROBERT is the "tale" of Robert Johnson, the blues guitar player. Johnson's tale is the stuff that legends are made of. This legend is his obsessive desire to become a great blues guitar player, allegedly, led him to have sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads so he could be a better guitar player.

There is a thin line between facts and myths and somewhere legends are born.

One fact is clear: Mr. Johnson was born in Mississippi May 8, 1911 and died August 16, 1938 at the very early age of twenty-seven. He is considered a master of the Delta blues style. The legendary B B King and Eric Clapton have been influenced by his original style.

Another fact: This legendary story will be on American Repertory Theater of WNY's stage for you to experience in the second of the intimate surroundings of of the new performance space, ART IN THE BOX.

Certain Facts: Hugh Davis and Robert Ernie Insana will bring this legendary tale to life with their riveting performances. It will be an evening of darkly crafted images by Mark Humphrey and this legend is tightly directed to the stage through the keen eye of Gail Golden.
