It's called "The Other Side of Me." Here's a great article about it:
http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/080930/0438558.html

It is completely different from anything she has ever recorded. I am loving it so far, but I am biased. IMO she could sing anything and make it sound good.

She is my favorite singer in the whole wide world. I have seen her in concert some 20 times.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

Love her, and have seen her twice in concert. I am going to have to sample this one before I buy it though.

Just give the world Love.

I'm not a country music fan and am loving it. It's kinda a hybrid of sorts though..not pure country, and it works for her. There's several songs I think could be radio hits, but my favorite of all has to be her personal ode to the end of her relationship with Frank Wildhorn.."Waiting for the Fall". Those who solely love her for her Broadway belting will be disappointed though. This is yet another side of the most versatile singer I know.

Started watching her on Star Search- an amazing voice! There is a video on youtube of her singing "Someone Like Me" with her husband playing the piano. I couldn't link it- you'll just have to search. It's very romantic the way they look at each other and especially the way she looks at him when she sings- it's beautiful! Ya gotta see it!

Thanks for the reviews. I'm sure I'll miss her old style, but I do like country too, so it sounds good.

She's the best. Haven't gotten the cd yet. I pre-ordered it on Barnes & Nobles a few weeks back, as they have an extra track. Hopefully, it will come in the mail today or tomorrow.

I really feel like a lot of the songs on this album could be on the radio. Such a cool, relaxed feeling to it. I am seeing Linda in concert in Vegas next week, so excited.

I LOVEEE Linda, but this album is very different sounding from what I've "sampled" so far! I've only seen her in concert once, but def will make more of an effort (& want to see her Christmastime show too!).

And about this, supportivemom,

LOL Frank and her split in 2003 right after the world premiere of Camille Claudel, official in 2004 I believe. Frank's new fiance is BRANDI BURKHARDT, currently making her Broadway debut as Lucie Mannette (go figre both of his wives who have starred on Broadway's first role was a Lucy/ie!). It's a great video though, I've seen it. I wish you could buy that concert on DVD or whatnot (maybe you can? I don't think so).

philly- what a shame! Obviously I had no idea that Linda and her husband had split. I just listen to her voice and I haven't paid attention to her personal life. I didn't even pay attention to when the video was done. Oh well- I hope she finds someone else- she's so beautiful and talented!

edit- I just googled Brandi- she was the one who played the bimbo "mermaid" on Passions. I thought her name sounded familiar. wow-was this a midlife crisis?

Honeslty, their divorce was like a private-public thing. Like no one dug into the dirt/respected their privacies. I really don't know what happened. They claim they're still friends when they split, but comeon after 15 years (more like 6 of marriage though) I think we all know it usually ends ugly. Especially by Frank's recent comments about Havana - The Musical, and Camille Claudel, which were reported to be "star-vehicles" for Linda. Camille no doubt. Actually, I think Frank "stole" Linda's musical director too, but why do I doubt that has anything to do with it (Jeremy Roberts -- she brought him to Frank with J&H over the years). Frank at the opening of ATOTC made it quite clear Linda will no doubt NOT be doing Havana and will not be asked (I doubt she would regardless. Family really means a lot to her if you've ever met/been to a concert of hers!), and Frank has said he believes Brandi will. I know that Brandi has been "toyed" (whats the right word?) with for Camille, as well as that role so it fits her better...and it's going to re-debut somewhere in Europe (reportedly, not definate) and Frank hopes she will do that (Linda wouldn't go to Europe I'm pretty sure anyway)..as she did with Rudolph's world premiere (or was it Dracula? I think Rudolph!), but her Camille (her Gold can be heard various places on the web) just lacks that fierceness that Camille should have, but in the same respect, Brandi has the sweetness that Linda sometimes lacked. They really are just two complete opposites! Blonde vs. Burnette thing. It's a shame, because I really like a lot of Camille but Linda will probably not be doing it re: Linda Eder's new album released today(September 30); I doubt she'd even get asked.

I love both Brandi & Linda. I don't think Frank had a "mid-life" crisis-type thing at all...well maybe but it would have happened after the divorce anyway. Both women are beautiful both outside (Linda was a Minnesota Teen-Pagent girl back when! and of course Brandi as Ms. New York) and inside. After meeting Brandi at the stagedoor of ATOTC it's apparent she really loves Frank and I'm sure he loves her as well, so it's one of those things where once you find that out the "age-question" drops out of your mind.

And he probably met Brandi through some kind of talent thing with the Miss USA Pagent. Frank discoverd/found out about KATE SHINDLE (u/s Lucy Harris in J&H on Broadway, "upcoming" Dracula, the musical Concept Album), Shani Lee-Nelson (I believe that's her name, Emma on the Non-Equity Tour), among a few others who during the talent competition usually sang one of his songs. I mean I don't know for a fact, but just putting a few things together! Updated On: 10/1/08 at 09:56 PM

Well, thanks philly for clearing that up. Sounds a bit complicated. Living here in Florida, I'm just in the know of such things. When you see someone like Linda- it makes you wonder why anyone would leave her or that she would leave anyone. Oh well, I just hope she is happy! All I knew of Brandi was the Passions thing and that was just such a dumb show and such a dumb part! You're right though- they are both very beautiful!

Got my CD -- will listen to it as soon as I get a chance.

There's one thing niggling at the back of my mind, though -- I can't help feeling a little amused sometimes when performers do the "You know all those CDs/shows/whatever kind of products you all loved so much and spent so much money on and became big fans of? That wasn't really me. THIS is really me." Of course they're entitled to explore and express every facet of themselves and their talent, but it just strikes me as kind of a silly (and by now, cliched) way to market such exploration. I think maybe something like "This is something new I'm trying, building on past successes, and bringing out another side of myself, and I hope you like it just as much as you liked those" would sound better and make more sense.

But maybe that's just me being in a grumpy mood. Anyway, however it's marketed, I'm intrigued by the new CD and look forward to listening to it, so at least I was able to overlook the PR campaign that far. re: Linda Eder's new album released today(September 30)

Yeah, sounds like you are in a grumpy mood, and that's ok. Been there.....done that! Ha, ha....

Linda has said many times in her recent concerts, that with this cd, she really had to fight with her record company to make it and market it. It's a business.....and they didn't see it being a big money maker. So, it's something that she's been wanting to do for a long time. And, I'm thrilled that she finally is able to live her dream.

And, her former record label and ex-husband wanted her to sing songs, that they chose for her. She felt as if she didn't have a say so in her career. And, that's not good. It's her career - no one elses.

Yup. re: Linda Eder's new album released today(September 30) I'm glad for her, I really am, and from what you say, it's no wonder she's really happy and proud of this one. I just think sometimes the "re-invention" of celebrities is overdone -- but it's not always their fault so much as it's their PR people's fault, I suppose. And of course, I really do love her old style and don't want her to give it up forever!

Linda has an amazing voice. An amazing belt. But she will always be second to Streisand because A. Barbra had that voice first (come on folks, we all know the sound quite similar when singing), and B. Linda herself has admitted that she learned to sing by emulating Barbra Streisand.

I'm a bit mixed on the CD. I love Linda and I love Country. Just don't know if I love the combo.

Peter, I liked "Waiting for the Fall" best too. It's a really good song. But knowing what inspired it, I had the oddest feeling all through it that I was being a voyeur!! Had to keep reminding myself "It's just a song . . . " (I know there are tons of breakup songs out there, but it's not always you can tie a specific song to a specific breakup!)
