I've just been working out my personal statistics since commencing regular theatre-going in July 2006. So far in 2008, I'm averaging 8 trips a month, which is 0.6 up on 2007, and 4.2 up on 2006. (I haven't started going into location (city), location (theatre), or play/musical/other yet, but I already know what my most-visited theatre ever is. XD)
My monthly average for 2008 is pretty much mostly down to May, when I saw no fewer than sixteen shows (fifteen plays, one musical).
'Contains Violence' (Lyric Hammersmith, London) 'Major Barbara' (National Theatre, London) 'The Lover/The Collection' (Comedy Theatre, London) 'Equus' (Theatre Royal, Bath) 'Gone with the Wind' (New London Theatre, London) 'Fram' (National Theatre, London) 'Single Spies' (Wycombe Swan, High Wycombe) 'Fat Pig' (Trafalgar Studios, London) 'Richard II' (Roundhouse, London) 'Henry IV part 1' (Roundhouse, London) 'Henry IV part 2' (Roundhouse, London) 'Henry V' (Roundhouse, London) 'Henry VI part 1' (Roundhouse, London) 'Henry VI part 2' (Roundhouse, London) 'Henry VI part 3' (Roundhouse, London) 'Richard III' (Roundhouse, London)
Actually, 'The Lover/Collection' and 'Single Spies' were double-bills, two one act plays presented in the same evening with an interval between, so if we wanted to be creative or literal, we could say I saw eighteen shows that month. A thought that makes me a little giddy. O_o
My previous best was fifteen in one month, back in March 2007, which saw a trip to New York and the Get Into London Theatre promotion. XD
Sooo... what's your monthly average, and what's the most number of shows you've seen in a single month?
I saw CHESS every performance it played at Music Circus back in the day... So I guess something like 8 shows.
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
8... may 2007 rent X2 In the Heights (off broadway, i believe) Avenue Q (school trip) A Moon for the misbegotten (school trip) Grey Gardens Legally Blonde Journey's End

TonyVincent: if we're going to be THAT creative/liberal we could easily condense all eight down into two: the Richard II-Henry V tetralogy, and the Henry VI-Richard III tetralogy. Both times, it's essentially one continuous story told over four plays, and there's not even that much of a break between the two tetralogies. ;D
Although seeing as each part was at least three and a half hours, I'm keeping it as eight separate plays. My butt EARNED that right. But as they were all over one weekend in the same venue, we could accurately refer to it as a mere four trips to the theatre. Or one, with "going back for sleeps" in between. XD
Right now? This month: South Pacific- Aug 12th Avenue Q- August 19th Wicked- August 20th Mat Young Frankenstein- August 20th Eve
And now at the Surflight theatre, I'll be seeing the Will Rogers Follies exactly 4 times, making 8 shows my record.
Otherwise, my average per month is a little like this: January: 1 or 2 February: 0 or 1 March: 1 or 2 April: 1 or 2 May: 2 or 3 June: 2 or 3 July: 3 or 4 August (Usually): 4 or 5 September: 1 or 2 October: 1 or 2 November: 2 or 3 December: 3 or 4
Main reason for so many shows in the summer months is just due to not having school, and many family members come during December and November to see shows. Plus, May is my parent's birthday month, so they usually enjoy seeing shows.
You mean do I want to have sex with my mother and kill my father? No. Also I have no pee-pee with which to claim maximum size. I'm just working out my personal statistics again, and we have another thread on numbers, so it just happened. :3
To be honest, I was expecting a lot more people to reply with much larger numbers. I do just feel like a terrible show-off right now. Thank you Marc for making me feel better! ^_^
I don't keep records, but I did spend the full month of June this year in NYC and saw 23 shows during the month (about half Broadway and half off-Broadway. But I doubt if that's my record.
I saw 27 shows last September, The Wedding Singer twice in Baltimore, Xanadu (on stage) and 24 shows (in a span of 8 days!) at the NYMF. You could techinally say I saw 28 if you count Margeret Cho's Sensual Woman, which I saw at the Zipper.
This September I am currently slated to see 26 shows, Ace at Signature Theater and 25 shows (in a span of 9 days!) at the NYMF.

On a vacation in London I saw 11 shows in 7 days, thanks to one West End theater having a Tuesday matinee in addition to Wednesdays and weekends and another having a Monday evening performance. Unfortunately, it's been so long that I can't remember all of the shows.
I've been in New York now for 2 months, and I've seen over 20 different shows, and about 30 total - I saw some multiple times. If you're curious:
Gypsy (5 times) Sunday in the Park (last performance) Les Liaisons Dangereuses (last performance) A Catered Affair (2 times) Adding Machine Love You, Perfect, Now Change Damn Yankees Young Frankenstein Xanadu Legally Blonde (Laura's last show) Boeing Boeing Title of Show 39 Steps Mary Poppins (2 times - took my mom the 2nd time) The Little Mermaid A Chorus Line Avenue Q Wicked My First Time Naked Boys Singing Bash'd Grease Spring Awakening Hairspray
