It’s not unbelievable - the writing was very large and on the wall from the numbers.

Unless it tells you at checkout, the show is still on sale past the 18th.

Hearing it is closing is angering me because I had plans to go see it at the end of the month and bring friends who I know would LOVE it. They made the weird art. I was all too happy to consume it. I know the economics weren’t favorable, but I still hoped the cash infusion from the Wades and RuPaul would’ve helped a little bit.

I'm deeply sad this didn't find an audience, it was stunning and poignant and incredible. I wish more people had given this a chance. Damn.

A shame about the short runs of these new shows.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

This is insane. It will have run just over a month. I feel terrible for all of the creatives involved.

Jordan Cooper is trying to start a "save our show" campaign after everyone with tickets after December 18 have been emailed that their tickets have been canceled.

I'm wondering with both Ain't No Mo and KPOP if the creative teams had announced we need people to buy a bunch of tickets right now or we'll have to close the show in a week, that strategy would have more impact? Once people are actually refunded, there's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube.

Jordans post leads me to believe they weren’t consulted. Him saying they were “evicted” makes me think this came as a surprise and announced prior to trying to make a plan.

How on earth could this be a surprise? Do they not have access to the same information that we do, here? Their average ticket price is TWENTY ONE DOLLARS.

Producers often phrase a closing announcement to the cast like "if we don't increase sales significantly we will close on X date." Rarely does a closing notice ever get rescinded.

"Eviction" is also an overstatement; I'm sure, like any closing, was a business decision made by the producer. A nudge from the theatre owner, yes, but I'm sure Shubert would let them run through Jan 1 if they had the funds to do so –– which they obviously don't, unless Lee Daniels wants to throw money into the sea.

I can’t help but to think there is a tad bit of karma here when you go around saying your play was written by the youngest playwright in Broadway history when that was a blatant lie.

The average ticket price was $21.36  but on social media, Jordan Cooper was claiming the average ticket price to Ain't No Mo is $50. Either there's two different sets of criteria being used to determine the average, or there actually might be some disconnect with Cooper on what the business side looks like.

Regardless of the specifics, for sure it's common sense that the worst selling show on Broadway is not going to be on Broadway for very long.

He also claims to be the youngest playwright in Broadway history, so...

"

I think the average ticket price that's reported with the weekly grosses includes comp tickets, which naturally brings down the average price per ticket.  I suspect Cooper is referring to something like the average price that was paid for non-comp tickets.

I was there tonight and Mr. Cooper made an impassioned speech partly attacking Broadway for not being more open to plays like his.He kept saying Broadway has to change. I found the play thrilling but messy.  As a white person there was clearly a lot I was not going to get. I can't imagine in what world anyone could have seen this as a show that could survive on Broadway. Broadway shows need  tourists, suburbanites etc to buy tickets. I got my ticket at a steep discount, I am a dedicated theater goer but I could never afford Broadway ticket prices. I am very grateful I got to see it but not surprised it is closing

On a side note there were two African American women in front of me who literally spent the ENTIRE play on their cell phones. The worst I have ever seen in  a theater. It as incredibly distracting with the light.

Yes. Attack Broadway for people not wanting to see your show. That’s exactly what’s needed. Not promotion or trying to sell your show but attacks on the community thats actually putting your show on. Makes perfect sense.
