Some of the BEST performances I've seen over the years (admittedly in more long-running shows) have been by understudies making their debuts and otherwise.
I understand the frustration of missing a star, but agree with Carrie (London's Cinderella) that there's ways to be disappointed, but not to tag the people on social media.
This belongs on the London Message Board. I have zero idea who this woman is nor care. I’m sure folks in the UK would enjoy reading this, not a Broadway Message Board.

Understudies exist here. People complain when they go on here. The conversation is relevant to us.
And if you care about theatre, you should probably get to know one of the West End’s leading ladies and biggest stars.
"I know now that theatre saved my life." - Susan Stroman
Well, I know who she is and have known who she is for years now. And having just seen her two days ago (the evening of her unscheduled matinee absence) I found this post interesting.
She’s also most likely going to be opening “Cinderella” on Broadway next year at some point & she’ll be in America and the new “it” girl here.
Also, there’s more than a few Americans who follow West End theatre and quite a lot post/read here and I’m sure those who don’t have the ability to either
1. Not click on a post they’re not interested in. 2. Not take the time respond to a thread they’re not interested in. 3. Not be bothered by a thread they’re not interested in, just existing. 4. Understand not every thread on a public message board exists to cater to their specific tastes.
Yea so anyway back to the topic - tagging an u/s in a post where you say you are so disappointed that you saw them is a really terrible thing to do. And LOL @ people DMing an actor to personally ask for a refund. Folks really do believe the world revolves around them.

Aren't you fun.

What's also annoying is when you write something, either positive or negative, about the missing actor and/or the understudy, not even directed at them, and someone replies tagging them. It's like, "If I wanted them to know, I'd tell them myself!"
"Hey little girls, look at all the men in shiny shirts and no wives!" - Jackie Hoffman, Xanadu, 19 Feb 2008
I've enjoyed the work of many understudies but there was that insufferable performance of Mitzi Welch who went in for Carol Burnett in FACE OUT/FADE IN. She was wrong for the role and an absolute mess on stage.
