Hadestown on a very thin Budget

Hey all... So my wife and I are headed to NYC for the very first time and we want to see a couple of shows. I already have my Dear Evan Hansen Tickets, but am stumped on Hadestown. We are traveling in and our budget is thin so Extreme seating is about the best we can do:

Back Corner of the Mez for $99 Row H Extreme side Left or Right
Row C of the Mez for $139 Extreme Left or Right available.
Row G Orchestra Extreme Right for about $159 Left or Right available

I'd love to sit center but my budget won't allow. From what I have read even the back corner of the Mez are good seats.  Which of these options would you choose? which side is better to sit on? Is the back corner decent enough? I'd love to sit orchestra and close but I fear I'll miss too much being that close and so far to the side. Again this is about as good as I can do budget wise... Also my wife is 5/10 and has very long legs so preferring an aisle anyways.

Thanks!

I would choose row C in extreme right mezzanine. You will have a very close view and won't miss all the important action on your left of the stage

Mezz Row H are very good seats if you wanted to save the extra money. It’s only a few rows back and you save about a hundred bucks. If you’re ready stretched, I’d go with those. :)

Anywhere in the mezzanine is great for Hadestown. I think the show is actually better viewed from the mezzanine than the orchestra.

When are you coming to NYC? I know Dear Evan Hansen reopens in December. If you’re coming during the holidays, those may be the best prices you’ll see. If after the holidays, I’d wait to see if further discounts are given or if Hadestown ends up on tkts

Shoot! I have tickets on Row B extreme left. Should I try an exchange?

I recently saw the show from B 25 in the mez (audience left on the very end) and thought my view was great. Honestly each time I’ve seen it has been on the side of the mez and I would contest that basically every seat in the mez has a good view. As someone who is tall my seat was the best of both worlds, an excellent view with extra leg room!

I’ve sat pretty much everywhere for Hadestown except the balcony. Mezz is perfect. I’ve sat several times within the first three rows and each time had a great view. I actually would not suggest Mezz Row A because you have to lean a little when they’re at the very front of the stage.

I think there are no partial view seats in the mezzanine, so you still won't miss anything, but Hades' balcony is on the left of the stage, so are musicians. But all action happens in the center, you don't have to worry about missing anything. I just personally would prefer to sit on the right side, I think it's a personal preference. It's true that the best views are probably in the mezzanine in this theater.

One other thing to consider is that Hadestown uses algorithms more aggressively than most Broadway shows to determine pricing, which means that seats tend to fluctuate in price a lot and tend to get cheaper as the performance date gets closer. As one example, I got front-row mezz, normally $299, for $79 because I waited to buy until two days before the performance.

So, waiting a bit, keeping an eye on SeatGeek, and seeing if prices go down is also an option. But of course there's some risk with this route that demand goes up, prices rise, or you don't get in at all.

Thanks. I'm sort of leaning that way already since the seats seem to be good throughout the mezzanine. Hard to know unless you have been there before.

We are coming in the week between Xmas and New Year so I'm guessing we won't be seeing many discounts. Ha. But I'll keep looking just in case. Thanks.

I sat in the mezzanine both times I saw it. (MEZZR, Row G, Seat 12 first time; MEZZR, Row E, Seat 6 second time). Great views! Granted those weren’t exteme side seats.

Also, you’re wise to be concerned about legroom because the legroom as I recall in the mezzanine was not great so an aisle seat would be good.

One other consideration. one of my friends saw a bunch of shows when he was there for work before the pandemic and he was on a bit of a budget and he sat in one of the box seats. Left box seat as I recall. And he loved it and he thought he had a great view. And I believe they were maybe about the same price as what you’re quoting or even less since box seats usually are less. And since most ox seats have movable chairs that also might help with legroom

I would try closer if I was you. All the shows I've seen in that theater from the mezzanine I mostly remember looking at the top of performers' heads.

The balcony is like a drop of doom Move the wrong way and you'll meet your demise!

When people are talking about left or right, do they mean audience left or stage left?  I sat audience left/stage right, and I was glad I was on that side rather than the other side.  There is a key scene towards the end of the show that I think is better viewed from that side if your ticket is an extreme left or right.

Audience left I would assume? I know what moment you’re talking about and I agree that it’s better viewed audience left.
