Facui in an interview yesterday thinks late summer or fall for theater opening.

Here is the actual referenced, video, interview with CNBC where he is asked about Broadway reopening. Rhe question is asked at 11:29 in the video.

I personally don't see "Hamilton" opening on July 4th.

Oh ye of little understanding. As said above, there are a lot of moving parts (and some that probably won't move. Ever left grandpa's car sitting in the garage for a year and a half?)
"

Actually I do understand. And yeah once they get those actors in the building.

3 weeks.

Why would we assume that people aren't in the buildings now making sure that things aren't falling apart, it's not all just been abandoned.

@Lavieboheme3090 The issue is how much time is needed before the show is in a position to invite actors back into the building. And while of course there has been minimum maintenance, that too is just the tip of the iceberg. Understand, please, that we are not going to know what kind of shape we are in until April, May, at the earliest, That's the starting point. Then some brave souls can make some assumptions about viability of their shows.

Regarding what Dr. Fauci said, not to state the obvious but he is not opining on the economic factors that drive the reopening of Broadway and/or particular shows.

I would assume there are people checking on the theaters but probably not much more than walk throughs. (Run water, flush toilets, minor updates) The theaters are not fully staffed with operations from what I have heard.

There is a lot that will need to go into getting back up. Shows will want rehearsal space. There is not enough space for all shows to rehearse at the same time. I spoke to a few friends with a few shows and they said that some shows may choose to rehearse in their theaters. Sets will need to be cleaned and checked. Lighting and sound checked. Things may need to be replaced simply from sitting idle for too long.

We know some actors have left town. Quite possible some show staff have also. All of those people will need to be replaced which could involve auditions, rehearsals and training. Maybe some of the smaller shows could swing 3 weeks. I suspect that unless they wait for Broadway, we will see some off-Broadway shows open first.

Also, where will theater people be on the list for vaccines? Where will we actually be as far as number of people vaccinated. It is all projected right now. I think in a perfect world the big three would be offered the vaccine to administer to all staff on a scheduled day or days. Maybe extend that to the shows in their theaters. And remember, this is a two shot vaccine with weeks in between shots. I would suspect that would have to happen before even going into the theater which means everyone should get the vaccine late March or in May to go back in June. Just my thoughts and thoughts based on conversations I have had with friends in the business.

(Assuming things go well) I’m curious what Broadway will learn, if anything, from the UK’s reopening to help the process along.

I would hope they think about implementing some things ALW did at the Palladium. Especially the silver ion door handles. Also maybe the one way systems if possible. I think even after the vaccine, the door handles would give people a bit of peace of mind. Even before covid people didn't like touching door handles.

probably more likely The Music Man, although I believe Company would have won if it had opened this year
