President Barack Obama:

(Trump) is more concerned about suppressing the vote than suppressing the virus.

The Heritage Foundation is a major conservative think-tank, so I'm going to guess that they may or may not have a slight bias.

Hey Fox News, you are in the wrong place. Go elsewhere to spew your hate filled, delusional, backwards information NOT based in science or reality. Seriously. Bye.

Maryland confirmed receipt of my request for a mail-in ballot today by email. I'm going to slip my ballot into a country drop box ahead of election day..

The question I have is I was sent a mail in vote and if I was to mail that in before election day would that stop me from voting again in person on Election Day. How do they check?

When you return your mail in ballot both the bar code and signature are scanned. If there is an issue with the signature then the envelope is not opened and the vote is considered challenged.

If the barcode and signature match the vote is counted and it is registered that you voted. If you show to vote in person it should be noted that you already voted depending on when you sent your ballot in.

But if you do happen to vote and you already submitted a mail in vote that hasn't been counted the system will eventually catch up and you will most likely be charged with a felony.

Yankee, I know you're in North Carolina where it is, in fact, a felony to vote twice. Penalties vary but it's usually some jail time and a fine. I pulled a few quotes from an article specifically about your state:

“Electronic poll books with information about who has already voted are used at every early voting site. If a voter tries to check in who has already voted, they will be prevented from voting a regular ballot,” she said. “A voter will be offered a provisional ballot if they insist on voting, and this ballot will be researched after Election Day to determine whether it should be counted.”

Brinson Bell encouraged residents who wanted to verify that their ballot was counted to check the Board of Election’s website, where they can track their vote “much like they can track their online order or pizza delivery.”

“North Carolina elections officials encourage voters to request their ballot as soon as possible and return it as soon as they are ready to do so,” she said. “By doing so, you can track your ballot and ensure your vote counts.”

How do I make sure my signature matches one on a card I filled out 30 years ago? My signature has absolutely shifted since then and I’m worried about my vote not counting.

"If you have noticed a change in your handwriting and particularly your signature, please update your signature on file with the Elections Office. It is important that we have your current signature on file. Your signature is used to verify your absentee ballot and/or candidate and initiative petitions. If your signature has changed, you may update it at any time by submitting a new Voter Registration Application."

Why do any of you bother replying to this person? They never respond once they post and all they are looking to do is incite. If no one responded maybe, just maybe they would stop posting.

I don't GAF about that Trump loving (expletive expletive). I was answering questions from two posters that asked questions that were genuine and valid.

Thanks Erik and Sutton, I was curious what they did to ensure people could not vote twice.

There's only one way to find out. I recommend you give it a try as the president asked you to. And don't wear a mask when you go in person. Have fun with it and let us know how it turns out!

Your state will either have a digital book or other cross referencing platform. You can try to vote on election day, but if they have record of the vote, they will deny you that vote.
