I think Metcalf films The Conors in the fall. They could always open back up around this time 2021. Just bump it over a year. Maybe. I'm hoping.

I do think Beetlejuice closes up early but still moves into the Barrymore.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I do think Beetlejuice is probably just done. Sadly. (Without the money they could’ve been making from “final weeks” at the Winter Garden, I’m even less certain how the money could be there to justify the scaling down of the production, additional rehearsals, and new ad budget for a move.)

Weren't they working on rewrites for the transfer before this happened? Maybe they could add in some coronavirus jokes during the opening monologue for the new version. It is a "show about death" after all, and people will be needing the laugh.
I wonder how Sophia Anne Caruso is feeling right now.

^Hello Dolly just closed. I thought Aladdin was going to run for a while. Is there a second run?
If Company, Six or/and Mrs. Doubtfire close, that will kill me. What are your thoughts? At least Company should be fine, right?

None of those shows- save possibly Six due to its low costs- would be able to weather a closure of several months. The mid-April reopen date was arbitrary and optimistic.
Everyone here needs to wrap their heads around that and accept it now.
When theaters reopen- and that could be as soon as May or as late as September- Broadway will be anemic. And the months following, it will likely remain anemic. The money’s gone, Rose. It takes time to come back.

Posted: 3/21/20 at 10:40amI think Company and Six come back. Mrs. Doubtfire is probable as they already started previews. I see Flying Over Sunset ppd. until next season. I feel like there will be several vacant theaters when this settles down.

I think Aladdin is retooling the show before it starts up again. It was posted in one of the national tour threads a while back. So the Aida tour is hopefully happening instead next season.

Dolly closed a week early, I think, and the Aladdin tour was scheduled to close in late April and they were going to scale down the tour to relaunch next fall. They pushed the closing up though because of this.

What's the current thinking regarding Ain't too Proud holding on? I planned to see in late June (rescheduled from Apr 3rd). Regardless, hope we're out of this mess by then.

This is crippling the ecconomy as we head deeper in to a RECESSION...BWAY is not comiing back full swing in just a couple of months...it will take a year or 2 once it reopens.

Warner Bros, even though they have money, is unlikely to flush it. there is no way a move would be profitable, & even big corporations are profit driven.

Kennedy Caughell just posted that the Beautiful tour also ended early.

I've seen it said in other threads that the "way to go" is to cut costs from the weekly budget.
Sorry, but axing the flash paper and the insane amount of haze used in Beetlejuice is not enough to keep a show like that open.
You'd have to actually BOOK Michael Keaton for a 10 week engagement to get the kind of numbers that even resemble what Bette pulled for Dolly, or Hugh is getting for Music Man
My partner and I were both part of the American lay offs this week. Without knowing when we can afford basic stuff for an extended period of time leaves us with no room on our plate to juggle seeing shows WHEN they flip the light switch "ON" again. It's a nice thought. But we won't be able to just "bounce back" that quickly. There WILL be a time for us to see shows, in time.
