For those of you in New York, Im curious about your opinions of Michael Bloomberg. Im also wondering how he was able to get three terms as Mayor in your city. Does it surprise you hes doing so poorly in the Democratic primary? Im curious if New Yorkers share the same view as him as the rest of the country.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

I was teaching in the NYC schools when Bloomberg was mayor and took over them. He hired administrators from the business world and had no background in education. They were sneaky and tried to play one teacher against the other. They also worked our "deals" with poor students to spy on teachers. These were failing students who suddenly were getting passing grades for reporting everything that was going on in the classes.
They also forced us to teach inappropriate material when they dictated it and HOW to teach it. The "teachable moments" were gone and my creativity was stiffled.
Did this improve student performances? No. Grades were still poor but we were often called to come in on a Saturday to "scrub" the results on State Exams (the NYS Regents exams) and manipulate the grades so more kids would pass. If you ask me, the schools were in worse shape.under Bloomberg than they ever were.

Wow. Shocking that not any of this, much of which is against the law, has ever become public until just now. ROTFLMAO. I guess the students were eager to drop a dime on you cause they were sick of having to compare the actions and motivations of every historical figure to "what Dolly Levi would have done". Man, I would have ratted you out too.

I am neither friend nor foe of Bloomberg, but I am hard pressed to believe any of this.
Broadway Joe said: "I never liked the guy but I would love for him to be mayor again over blowhard Bill de Blasio who has been an absolutely horrid mayor."
I haven't lived in NYC for almost 20 years but my parents still do. They feel the same way about de Blasio. I didn't follow Bloomberg too closely when he was mayor but I know there were things he did that were good for the city such as adding the green apple cabs to the outer boroughs. I recall he had to get special permission to run for the 3rd term since NYC had term limits after Koch. And New Yorkers voted him in for the 3rd term so that's telling.
The third term happened at the same time as the Wall Street ressession hit. He convinced the city council to vote to allow him to have a third term because he convinced them that it would be good for the city to have a mayor who knows finance and while this was going on. However, not too long after he left office, city council reversed that and brought back term limits.
Also, the racist stop and frisk policy. I remember during the outcry during all this, he was being interviewed by an nyc talk radio station. The thing people had about this was that it was targeting blacks and Hispanics. When this was going on the host asked Bloomberg about it. His response was that if black and Hispanic folks didn’t commit so much crime then they wouldn’t need to be targeted. Now that we see hm running for president there goes his minority vote.
I like him. He is organized, pragmatic and an actual grown up. The man child that currently runs NYC is useless and ridiculous. If he wants to spend a billion dollars of his own money on this, that's fine with me. The point of this whole thing is getting Fu*kface Magoo out of the White House. That's the only goal for 2020.
Now that we see hm running for president there goes his minority vote.
Completely untrue. He has the endorsement of many, many high profile African Americans, mostly in governor or mayoral roles all around the country. Also, 20% of black Democratic primary voters now support Michael Bloomberg as of a week ago. So....nope.
