Has anyone seen this yet? The 30 dollar tickets for this cast is so appealing.

I had the same thought about the cast and ticket price, but Roundabout is just so... yawn.

I was at the show last night (and had no idea it was the first preview). I loved it. I wasn't familiar with the writer's work, but the score is delightful and the book well constructed (especially the second act). The cast is wonderful and it has some great emotional moments. The first act drags the slightest bit, but especially for a first preview, it was in great shape. Fun seeing a musical in that space as well. It was very intimate, which is great for this musical

Saw a reading of this last year with Santino Fontana and really enjoyed it. Surprisingly delightful.

One of the sweetest, most tender shows I’ve seen in a while. Cast is superb, music is delightful. A steal for $30. Unmissable!

I have tickets for this Saturday and can’t wait to see the show. I haven’t been to the black box before and know that the tickets are all General admission. Can you say how early people arrive and what the seating process looked like from your experience? I appreciate your time.

As you noted, it’s general admission, so no assigned seating (unless you need special seating). There’s a lobby/lounge area where you’ll wait to be let in. This is a black box theatre, so seating changes per show (I’ll let those who have already gone speak to the layout).

Doors usually open 30 mins before (you can call to verify). If you want to pick your seat, I’d recommend standing as close to the theatre doors as possible so you can be first in.

Thank you for the response and that's perfect information. I appreciate it!

I drew a picture (if this works) to show the layout. It’s in the round, each section of circle has two rows of seats. It’s small and they do play to all sides, but in my opinion the section to the right of the door you enter through is the best.

Definitely seeing this, and these initial reports are great, but the title of this makes me cringe every time I see it. Not sure why....

The run appears to be completely sold out at this time.

To be honest, this show doesn't look very good to me at all, but with the positive early buzz, and tickets getting snapped up so quickly, I caved the other day and bought tix for late in the run. I'm going in with an open mind, and I certainly hope I like it. I'm not immune to a good charming musical, if I do, in fact, find it charming.

Possibly because it's actually the title of of a rather robust ode to, you guessed it, Grenadine, sung with glasses held high.

The premise of the show is fine and some of the.music is beautiful melodically, if a tad treacly in word.I didn't believe the relationship between the two leads, I think due to casting.

The run does appear sold out on the website. It opens frequently a day before or day of with more seats available. I bought mine that morning. There were still.a half dozen empty seats at curtain.

That's good to know about the tickets being available the same day. This will probably extend.

I don't think it will extend. If it does it won't be for too long. Exception To The Rule opens there in late April.

I saw a production at Goodspeed's Norma Terris theater and really liked it. I am curious if a real dog is being used as I see that Bill Berloni is listed. At the one I saw it was a puppet/marionette, made for the production, which was fascinating. It was really well done.

I saw this last night. I followed the valuable advice of Anakela above and sat in the section directly to the right of the entrance, and s/he was completely right. I was in the front row, and I was glad I was sitting in that section. While there are likely no truly bad seats in the house, the actors had their backs to other sections at certain points, which seemed like less of an issue where I was. I felt like I had the best possible view. At least during the first act.

I have to say that because I actually left at intermission. That speaks more to me/my interests/my headspace. I bought my ticket based on the cast, the price and the early comments. I don't regret it, but I didn't really know what the show was about other than a love story in New York. I probably should have realized what the title was indicating.

So the lead character is an alcoholic. 80% of the first act is made up of fluffy, light, insubstantial romantic scenes, with the occasional Significant Moment—the heroine discovers/points out the hero is carrying a flask on their date; the hero buys coffee and pours from his flask into the cup; the hero tucks a bottle (of bourbon?) and a glass under his bed…. And then near the end of the act, the show does a hard right into High Drama--angry confrontations (made even more uncomfortable given how close the audience is to the actors--the downside of that closeness), revelations that the main character has capital-I Issues, and him completely falling off the wagon. I can’t say it wasn’t set up (the first time the main character drank from the flask I was like, “Oh…so that’s what this is about..." ) But the act is so focused on the cutesy romance and light comedy, feeling completely lightweight and fluffy, that even with all the Ominous Hints, the shift was jarring, to the point where it almost felt like a different show, and not one I was interested in seeing. I came for charming New York romance (with some problems, sure), not for a story about characters coping with alcoholism. (It might have been different if all the alcoholism stuff wasn’t obvious and predictable…but it was.) So I left to get a burger (and felt kind of bad about it, because the elevator operator had to take us—a couple other people left too—up to the ground level, and I figured the empty front row seat might be noticeable. But I just wasn't interested in seeing more and dealing with more addiction drama.)

The actors were good and as charming as the story called for. I like Adam Kantor and was glad to be able to see him, and while I was unfamiliar with the lead actress, she was quite good. I generally liked the music, other than the first song, which frankly seemed dumb to me (I had a sinking feeling during that one, but luckily the rest were better). I liked the staging and what they were able to do with the space. For the cast and especially the price I wouldn’t discourage anyone else from seeing it, as I think it may work for a lot of people. It just wasn't for me.

Today’s performance is cancelled due to cast illness, along with the last few. Does anybody know what’s up?

I don't know what's up but I had tickets to last night's canceled performance. I hope the actor is feeling better soon, and that the show will extend since the entire run is sold out.

Due to the popularity of it, this will extend, at least for a few weeks.
