I am starting to get tired of these remakes. I saw the Lion King and I absolutely hated it. I thought it was awful. Anyone else see it? Whats your opinions ?

Cinderella was good. The rest have been disasters. I honestly think in addition to cynically printing money, these remakes are an attempt to devalue 2D animation.

this does a good job talking about the current state of Disney and honestly it’s kind of depressing

I really enjoyed The Jungle Book though. I haven’t seen Aladdin but I did listen to some of the music and I hated that too. Sounded very auto tune to me and the acting while singing was awful l. I didn’t care for Aladdin’s voice at all.

Jasmine’s song is also not...*checks notes* good

Yes Cinderella was fine. And like I said I loved the jungle book so I am looking forward to the second. And honestly Mulan looks good even though it’s a different story than the animated version. But my biggest annoyance is casting people who can’t really sing for these movies.

It didn’t fit well into the movie for me at all

To each there own. Like for me, I HATED the Cinderella remake. Possibly the WORST of all the remakes because it paints itself as this updated take on the tale where she's oh so progressive and feminist because.... why exactly? The only "positive" difference is that she meets the prince ONE time for about 5 minutes before the ball. That doesn't help the idea of falling in love to fast in these tales. Other than that she does nothing. NOTHING. She does LESS then the Cinderella of the original Disney animated movie. And has ZERO character beyond looking pretty. The original gets made, gets desperate, she is a fighter in the end. In the remake she gives up almost right away and if not for an open window as she spins around in circles humming, never would have gotten saved. Worst. Live. Action. Remake.

I skipped Beauty and the Beast and Lion King. Aladdin and Dumbo were equally wonderful but Cinderella is even better.

I actually...really liked the Beauty and the Beast remake?  Emma Watson, while not the best vocalist, was able to carry her own and had great chemistry with Dan Stevens, and I appreciated that they got Josh Gad (an actual, Tony-nominated Broadway actor) and Audra McDonald (an actual, Tony-winning Broadway actor) to join the cast.  They also got Alan Menken and Tim Rice to write extra songs, and whether you liked the music or not, I do think it's a very good move to bring the writing team from the Broadway musical.

I almost walked out of The Lion King. It was painfully boring and devoid of any emotion.

My kids have enjoyed Dumbo, Aladdin and The Lion King and BATB. I liked Cinderella, kids haven’t seen it. Different tastes I guess.

Cinderella was the best one, and my favorite of the live action remakes. Aladdin is a close second. I think the worst was Maleficent. I haven't seen Dumbo or The Jungle Book.
