Since it originated at the Colonial, this better play there if it hits Boston. I haven't seen this production so I can't really comment on how well it would tour. Im sure actors would walk thru the audience, maybe have the set be the same sharp white color that masks the entire stage? Could make it feel a bit more immersive.
I'm VERY curious about this tour (same with OOTI). It's not like it's just in the round, like Fun Home, it's a whole environmental production. I also think a lot of audiences around the country will have a cool reception to this interpretation of the show.
Tour!? Play in the huge houses of close to 2000 seats +/-? O no!?
This really needs to play intimate houses. This tour I predict will end up being a disaster even winning the TONY and I don't see middle America audiences embracing it at all!

Here's the Civic Center Music Hall in OK... HUGE...2477 seats!

This production was one of my favorite things I’ve seen in New York, but this is a CHOICE.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
The show was amazing but it was dependent upon the intimacy in this incarnation. Without being completely rethought, this could be a mess. That being said, what I saw at Circle was transcendent and if Daniel Fish can create that, I'm assured he will create something excellent for the tour.
Wow! What an absolutely STUPID idea. The reason to see this is the environmental aspects. I couldn't imagine seeing it in a proscenium theatre , let alone any one of these oversized touring venues.
