Yes, you can use the code that you are given at the box office if you don't win the lotto.

EthelMae, congrats on winning.  I'll be playing the lotto for the show next month.

Anyone had any luck with the standing room?

I wish someone would teach them how to do a proper bait and switch. They don't seem to do it very well if they're going to keep letting people win the lottery.

OK, UncleCharlie. I was apologizing for my hasty bait and switch remarks of earlier. I won’t go into it again here. Do I have your pardon now?

You are pardoned. So, how was the show?

I pretty much loved the production. I don’t know Oklahoma! very well at all. Not a fan of the movie. Never saw it live on stage. Never listened to any recording of it. I basically knew it was a triangle relationship conflict and I knew a few of the songs. And I was with an old friend who knew less than I did about the show and he really liked it too. So, if you really know the show, I would imagine it would feel distancing, to say the least.

I loved the use of Circle in the Square. My last few visits had been my return trips to Once on this Island. So it was great to walk in again and see that you were going to be surrounded by the show like Island.

The cast was great. The three leads, Damon Daunno, Rebecca Naomi Jones and Patrick Vaill were strong and exciting to watch. Mallory Portnoy, Ali Stroker and Mary Testa brought welcome humor to this darker interpretation. I especially loved James Davis and Will Brill. Brill got deserved exit applause in one scene.

The band was great as well.

I’ve only heard about Agnes de Mille’s famous ballet section. I can only imagine what others who know it thought of the second act opener dance here. I kinda knew it was usually performed as a dance with dream characters of the real characters expressing their inner most thoughts and desires. I didn’t see that in this production. It was virtually a solo piece performed by the extremely talented Gabrielle Hamilton. So, I didn’t see any three sided relationship angst going on in the dance. Since it was basically a solo woman, I figured it only represented Laurey’s side of things. As others have noted here, I found it long and not as interesting as the other new touches in the show. Again, Ms. Hamilton does some magnificent movement in the solo so it was thrilling to watch but it didn’t seem to express anything enlightening about the three lead characters to me.

I spoke to my partner when I got home. He knows the piece quite well. I told him about the ending I had just witnessed and told him I couldn’t believe that this was how it was staged in 1943. He said it sounded sort of the same but some of the specifics I was telling him about sounded to him like motives were reinterpreted.

I was not so much confused at the ending but more had questions about why things were happening as they did and what was it really saying about the characters.

While I had an exciting night at the theatre, I didn’t get that, “I’m going to be back to see this again” feeling.

But, I would say that the two best musicals I’ve seen in town, (I haven’t seen a lot), are this and Fiddler. Two musicals written so long ago but can still thrill audiences.

Oh, and speaking of Fiddler, Ms. Jackie Hoffman was sitting two rows ahead of me. I just can’t never shake that Fiddler show. Follows me wherever I go. I was thinking Ms. Hoffman was there because she worked with Ms. Testa in Xanadu.

So, enter the Lottery for this one. $40/ticket. And, good luck! I had a great seat in Row F, in the even 200’s side. Full view.
In answer to an inquiry here, I think this was my third try at entering the Lottery.

I won the lottery tonight I think on my third try (seat C 401). While that's probably abnormally fast, if Hamilton is the hardest lottery to win, I've tried unsuccessfully for four years, and the late Escape to Margaritaville was the easiest lottery to win, I think you could basically win every night; Oklahoma! is probably far closer to Margaritaville on that scale. I'm guessing you should reasonable expect to win within a month of starting to enter.

I haven't and was hoping to see it before the opening but that probably won't happen now.

Won the lottery for 4/4! Requested 1 ticket and won after about 6-7 tries. Got D413.

We must have been right by each other - for winning tonight (I got the tix from another member on the board who had two pairs for last night's performance) we were in C 410-412. There was a group right by us that my friend and I feel like we know somehow but couldn't place them (they were 3 couples, one in rows A, B and C). I wonder if you saw them also. We're thinking they must be actors because we don't think we know them personally, but for the life of us couldn't figure it out... Also saw a critic sitting basically directly opposite us.

Could be!

There was a musical improv friend of mine in the audience that night, that we didn't fully register seeing each other until after we left, which is just to say my powers of observation that night weren't that great. I don't specifically recall the couples your speaking of, just that there was a woman sitting next to me in her 50s or 60s that didn't return for the second act.

Does anyone know if they're still offering a discount code to those who don't win the lottery?

I won on my 5th try last Wednesday and was in the 1st row near the back wall. I didn't think it would happen that fast but I got a single seat instead of a pair.

For those who purchased their lottery loser tickets at the box office, were the additional fees the same?

If you buy the lotto loser tickets at the box office, there are no fees like you would have to pay on the Telecharge site.

That's great to hear - did you go straight to the box office when it opened, or could you use the lotto losers code later in the day that you tried the lotto? I tried to use the code online a few times and it said 'site down' - so I wonder if I went to the box office like 5 hours later, if the code would still work. Thoughts?

My friend here on the board got the lotto loser code and went straight to the box office, with the code to buy the tickets.  I believe you have to purchase the tickets within 60-90 minutes, then the code expires.

$49 for the lotto loser.  As far as I know, those codes are still being given out to people who don't win the rush.

tbh the code hasn't changed since the lotto started, so you could always load up the telecharge offers site, get the code form the last email, and paste it in right after the results come in. You could snag the best possible seats that way theoretically.

Glad you made it! Do you know if she’s out all day or just for the matinee? Enjoy the show :)
