I also agree with the above comments on "Fixer Upper." I wasn't a big fan of the song in the movie and it works a lot better for me with this new arrangement.

I didn’t love the show at all but I was hoping the cast album would sound better then it does. It definitely sounds canned and overly processed

I can't believe all the praise for this bland musical. Save Caisse ("monster" is an excellent addition) , it all sounds auto-tuned and blah. That was the best they could do?

I do agree they should rescind the Best Musical  (cause it wasn't anywhere near deserving) Tony and add orchestrations.

Seriously! Oversight is polite, it was a total snub. The orchestration is gorgeous both in person and on the album. Another two areas I think they were totally overlooked for was lighting and costume design. How did they not get a nod for either? Mean Girls got a costume nomination over Frozen? Total Disney snub in my opinion. I love Tina Fey and want that show to do well, but at the end of the day it's still just people in street clothes. The costumes in Frozen really are gorgeous. The blue dress is totally hand-beaded and Sven is fantastic. They deserved a nomination for lighting too. I also really think Caissie Levy deserved a nomination but recognize I might be biased. I just think Tonys should rain down from the ceiling every time she tears the roof off after Let It Go. That girl can wail, and she kills that song. Every. Single. Time. Eight. Shows. A. Week.

I don't think the album sounds auto tuned at all. Maybe I would if I hadn't seen them live as well, but to me they really sound that polished in real life too. Honestly, I can't listen to it without grinning from ear-to-ear and shedding a few tears. This story is gold and there's a lot of talent telling it on that album.

How do you feel about the movie out of curiosity?

i just finished listening to this recording. i enjoyed parts of it but some stuff left me annoyed. i didn’t think Caissie was quite up to the task of singing Elsa when i heard she was cast and this recording really didn’t assuage my fear. she was okay but it didn’t have the power or glamour that Idina Menzel brought the role in the film. She was just... fine. Patti was irritating towards the beginning of the album but grew on me as it went by. Whoever is playing the snowman does a good Josh Gad impression! I had to remind myself it wasn’t Josh. another annoying thing was the songs were mostly the same til the very end where they decided to put a big finish on mostly every number which seemed a little forced. all in all a pretty good but slightly irritating recording that doesn’t feel like it will age well

"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."

Sounds soo lifeless! Which is really a deterrence in a sore that became so ballad heavy IMO.

The new material is OK, the lyrics really add dimension especially to Elsa but the music that goes with them is pretty samey and unremarkable up against the solid film numbers. And the two leads have none of the warmth of the film cast, at least on record. Seems poorly produced on several fronts I would say.

The orchestra is definitely primo though. Love the additional horns throughout.

I wanted it to sound bigger, more Les Miserable. But it didn't. Even "Monster" is pretty piano heavy. It's fine, but just wanted more sound. And don't get why it's so ballad heavy. Why should Elsa's first song be such a downer, and same with Anna's 2nd solo. What a bore.

Reviewed the album on my youtube.

Take it all with a pinch of salt

I really like Caissie’s version I’d let it go

Finally listened to the whole thing today during my workout. The orchestrations are the best thing about this recording IMO. And they are wasted on many bad new songs. How I wish we could have had a more creative, heartfelt Frozen. And to those who brought up Murin's voice seeming lighter, my guess is she is having some vocal problems right now. Hence why they didn't rerecord True Love. I saw the Wednesday evening show after they had finished the album and Patti STRUGGLED. At least thru most of act one. I also know she's missed performances recently. I wish we would have gotten more music for Anna and Elsa to sing together. Also Elsa needed another song that wasn't the whole "im dark and twisty and a scared of myself etc"
