I saw Bert Convey and thought that I saw Karen Akers, but the Playbills I have seen show Maureen McGovern as Luisa. Have never seen a Playbill that had both Convey and Akers starring at the same time. Am I mis-remembering seeing Akers? Were they in Nine at the same time?
I saw Maureen McGovern in it opposite Raul Julia, so I know Akers was gone already when Bert Convy came in. IBDB lists Karen Akers' dates in the show as Apr 22, 1982 - Dec 04, 1982.

It looks like Convy was only a 2 week replacement during Raul Julia's vacation --- and by that time Akers had already left and McGovern had come in. When Raul Julia left permanently his replacement was Sergio Franchi --- who I saw --- and he left MUCH to be desired.
Akers was nominated for her performance but didn't perform in the show's production number, which was Kathi Moss and the boys and female ensemble doing "Be Italian". Akers does make a quick appearance in the introductory set up for the Grand Hotel performance in 1990, so maybe you are combining memories of your Tommy Tune-Maury Yeston-Karen Akers musicals?

I'm a big fan of the original production of Nine. I never saw or heard anything about Bert Convey's performance. Do you have some thoughts to share? Both times I saw Nine it was with Raul Julia, who was terrific, especially when I saw him the second time , which was just under a year from opening. I saw Karen Akers and Maureen McGovern, both excellent!!!!!
