Haven't read anything on here about Michelle Williams at the stage door after Cabaret. Unfortunately, it does not look like I will be able to see this performance but I am a huge fan of hers. Did anyone meet her?

Gross. The stage door is for actors to interact with the audience that they performed for, not for random people to stalk their favorite stars (though it seems it has turned into that). If you're such a big fan, maybe you should care more about seeing her work than getting her signature.

I'm allowed to state my opinion, sorry if you don't like it. The fact that this thread exists make me hate humanity a little bit more.

It's not the openion that's the problem, it's the way you expressed said openion

It's also possible the OP has no intention of stage door-ing and was simply asking about others' experiences with her there.

Kevinr, She was very sweet. I stagedoored on June 6. Small crowd. She signed for everyone. Although staff originally stated no posed pictures, she begin posing. I normally don't want my picture taken with celebrity, but she insisted. Great experience due to the size of the crowd.

"The fact that this thread exists make me hate humanity a little bit more."

Oh, Jesus. Do you really think holier-than-thou statements like that make you look good? Because it makes you look like a spoiled little child who has no idea of anything in the world.

People going to the stage door for a show they've never seen bug me a bit as well but it isn't something that is going to make me "lose my faith in humanity." In typical BWW fashion, you are completely overreacting. Maybe he truly doesn't have money to buy a ticket? It's not like seeing a show is cheap, especially when the only cheap way is through HipTix, which are sold out I believe.

I'm going to the show tomorrow night, will report back. :)

If you think stage dooring after a show you saw is super chill and awesome, but stage dooring after a show you didn't see is an embarrassment to humanity and stalking, you are insane.

"Oh, Jesus. Do you really think holier-than-thou statements like that make you look good? Because it makes you look like a spoiled little child who has no idea of anything in the world."

I don't really care how I look to you? And I'm pretty sure your melodramatic statement about some comment about stagedoor proving someone has "no idea about anything in the world" makes you look weirdly defensive about your "right" to share a brief few seconds with someone you don't know.

"If you think stage dooring after a show you saw is super chill and awesome, but stage dooring after a show you didn't see is an embarrassment to humanity and stalking, you are insane."

I think stagedooring is dumb across the board and don't understand the appeal at all. But I do recognize that it has a little more validity for those who saw the show and want to thank someone for a performance or something of that nature. Isn't that what the tradition of it is supposed to be about?

It must be exhausting looking down on other people for doing something that has no effect on your life all the time.

All the time? It's a message board. I clicked on a thread. I expressed an opinion. It seems like you're the one bizarrely invested in tearing down a viewpoint you don't share.

Pre-teen pearls? Sorry, try the real life experience of someone who has had a dear friend stalked and harassed by a "fan" at the stagedoor to the point that she was sent the girl's suicide note begging for her help. There are plenty of people out there who abuse their access to their favorite stars and make "stagedoor" a breeding ground for unhealthy attachment. To me, wanting to be around someone you don't know whose show you haven't even seen to offer commentary on the work they're doing is a bit odd. Then again, to me needing that interaction in any situation is something I don't understand. To each their own.

Well, I mean, yeah. It's kind of a sucky experience to have since it really poisons the well for people who are genuine fans. If you ask me, it's Twitter and social media and constant access to people that changed the game as far as peoples' intentions at stage doors, and began this weird cultish obsession with "knowing" the people you love as opposed to just admiring their talent and their body of work. But I guess we probably disagree on what constitutes fandom and what's most important when you love someone as a performer, so I'm sure we'll never agree on this issue even a little bit.

Not everyone is a crazy stalker and not everyone thinks it is their "right" to stage door. The original poster is a huge fan of Williams and wants an autograph. That isn't unhealthy, nor is it him or her being her stalker. I understand things happen from time to time at stage door but things like that happen in the real world too. I had a stalker a few years ago at my work, it isn't fun and I wouldn't wish it on anybody. That being said, you are being ridiculously negative and judgmental for no reason at all. Get over it.

And I happen to have a differing opinion from the majority on this board and I don't see anything wrong with a discussion having opposing views. Get over it? I guess? That seems like an immature way to put a stopper on any opinion but yours but whatever floats your boat.

Jordan is the ultimate hypocrite. He'll waste no time bashing the crazy freaks who stalk Lea Michele or Idina Menzel (and I agree... they should be bashed) but then gets all Pissy when someone expresses their resentment for people who stage door or people who complain about a stamped Fran Drescher autograph.

Jordan, I know you can't stand me but I personally appreciate your sense of biting humor and brutal candor. I just wish you were more consistent. There's no need to bash Stickit. You've made plenty of similar statements on other topics and issues. I personally think it's fine and should be embraced but, as I said, either be consistent or shut up. Just pretend that Stickit is talking about a Lea fangirl if her/his opinion bothers you that much.... There. Is that better?

Saying to get over it is immature? You are flat out passing judgments on somebody that you don't and never will know. I understand to a point what you are saying but it's extreme. Most people that go to the stage door just want an autograph, maybe a picture and to tell a certain actor that they enjoy their work. Nothing more than that.

I am sure that Michelle Williams will appreciate knowing that there are big fans of her work (especially many of the smaller films that she's done) and I highly doubt she will find it weird. Sorry, not meaning to come off as a jerk but there is no need to judge people on something so little and stupid.
