Lindsay Lohan in West End's

One word: disaster.

Speed The Plow

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I feel bad for the theater goers in London, but it's likely that she will not commit to the schedule and be replaced by her understudy or someone else.

Will she show up to the theater on time every night? What about 2pm matinees? This has train wreck written all over it. I wonder if she will even have a single preview performance.

Yes, because the best thing for a recovering addict is to put herself in the stressful situation of making her stage debut. Critics will have their knives out, so will audiences, and the sad thing about it is that she probably will not be able to hack it.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

Maybe this will actually be therapeutic for her. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. The arts have always been a great escape for some people, maybe this will actually motivate her to get in touch with herself!? This is a big move she's making, like ray said she will be inadvertently proving herself every day/night to everyone.

While this is definitely... questionable, I'm rooting for her!

If LL gets to be in the West End, maybe we could have Kris Jenner have her dream role in Chicago here on Broadway. Lindsay Lohan in West End's

Great. Another reason for Lindsay Lohan to compare herself to Marilyn Monroe. I can see it now:

"We both went to England to work on projects and were treated terribly. I love Marilyn. We are both misunderstood.... I love acting. I need to act. It keeps me sane."

She's a fool.

Is the West End theater schedule as demanding as Broadway? I mean in the sense of it being 8 performances a week here. Will be interesting to see if she can handle the schedule.

She's going to need to cool it with the Botox so she can actually show and express emotion. If she ever shows up for work, that is.

People will probably just go out of morbid curiosity. Perhaps she still has a few fans left?

I honestly thought this was a long-belated April Fool's joke. I did not realize that our reality TV show stardom mentality has crossed the pond. Sad, sad news.

This show was Madonna's first and only foray into live theater.

That is my only contribution to this thread. Oh, and also that I wish LL could turn back the clock and be frozen at the Mean Girls stage of her career.

She won't be any worse than Madonna in the role....but will she acquire a Madonna-like phony British accent as well?

"Will she show up to the theater on time every night? What about 2pm matinees? This has train wreck written all over it. I wonder if she will even have a single preview performance. "

I'm admittedly basing this assessment on the documentary series she did for Oprah recently, but she seems to be at her best when she's on a set schedule and routine.

It's the fluctuating schedules and appointments that she seems to be late for.

A theatre performance schedule is set in stone, months in advance, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt until previews begin.

I'm not saying stage acting is a walk in the park, but she just might surprise us and thrive on the repetitiveness and routine.

I seriously doubt she will be able to handle the memorization required to do live theater. This is something I might pay to watch just to see what happens.

Maybe she will surprise everyone, but I would bet otherwise.

I'm going the benefit-of-the-doubt route on this one. It's not as if she has to carry the play, she definitely has something to prove and I wish her well.

The sad thing is she is ideally cast in the part. Hopefully she can get her act together enough to prove that.

Brick, I agree. This is a good role for her, and she doesn't have quite the ratty high profile she has here in the states so I think the Brits are more likely to give her an honest chance. I always like an underdog-makes-good scenario.
