It also depends if Menzel's kid is with her, in which case she doesn't stage door. Or the weather. I think it's just hit or miss. Since the Sunday show doesn't let out too late, you could make the attempt anyway?

That reminds me, though. There was a short attempted selfie video somewhere of a "fan" screaming and chasing after Menzel at night, who was with her son and I think not on the stage door side (the rest of the sidewalk and street looked empty). Twitter was alight with that briefly, but it seems the screaming girl took down the video quickly after being berated. Wow.

It does seem to really be hit or miss. I would imagine there's more likelihood of Idina's son being with her on a Sunday than any other day, given the earlier curtain.

With this particular cold weather it seems crazy that anyone would come out to sign, though I do follow someone on Twitter who talked about her coming out this past Saturday night (2/14). I'm going later this week and normally wouldn't stand in the cold or expect actors to sign in it but I do have a windowcard from the last time I went that's missing only idina's signature. If it's not insanely cold I might give it a shot.

I saw the show on Friday (2/13). Not sure if this will help but we waited until 12. Anthony and Jen came out. James, Idina, Jason, Jerry, and Tamika (she was filling in for LaChanze) did not. Some of the ensemble came out but a good number of them didn't including Ryann. It might be the weather.

According to a friend, Idina hasn't been out at the stage door in quite a while (a few weeks). She may be done for the run...or at least until it warms up a bit. The stage door man at the theatre said that lately there's been less than a 50% chance that she'll come out and that it's not up to her lately but rather an assistant or someone at the theatre.

Thank you for all the replies and advice. It's quite possible that I missed the window for her. Maybe in March, if it warms up, and it being towards the end of her run, she might be willing to sign again.

She signed on Saturday, but has been out less frequently than usual - I think it's been like 3-4 times out of the last 12 shows (some international fans are seeing it every showing for like 2 weeks and blogging about it on tumblr, hence the knowledge).

So yeah it's more infrequent than in the warmer times, but I would bet if the weather breaks, she'll be out more often.

Thanks for the info folks. I think it's just going to be bad timing on my part when it comes to getting my windowcard completed. But I'll also be at the last show and I'm sure I'd have no problem snagging a signature then ... :)

I can tell you pretty much every Sunday she has her son with her and thus doesn't sign.

I'm curious to know more about this "assistant" or whatever deciding for her that she can't come out? That sounds a little odd.

Agreed ... It seems strange to me that anyone but Idina Menzel herself would be dictating how and when she chooses to leave the building.

I think that's just bad hearsay or something, as it doesn't make sense. Unless Joby Horrigan really is the one calling all the shots over Idina Menzel behind the scenes, shocking!

Yeah, having someone making decisions for Idina about stagedooring is bizarre. Unless it's a vocal coach to protect her voice for the cold

I was at then show last night - Saturday - and there was a huge crowd at the stage door. I was part of it bc I'm trying to get a window card signed by as many of the cast as I can. Jenn Colella came out (I think she signs every single night - she's so gracious) and I think she was the only one. They told us after about 20 minutes that Idina was gone which I appreciated.. The crowd didn't really disperse though. I waited for a bit longer in case LaChanze came out but then I gave up.

I saw Anthony Rapp and a couple others leave from one of the main doors as I was getting into my car across the street. I think the guys at the door let them know what the crowds are like.

Thanks. I may give it a try on the show's final weekend. That's closer to the end of March, so maybe by then she'll be feeling generous again. If not, then that's her choice of course and I respect it.

Well, many of the cast seem to be skipping of late, so I think the weather has something to do with it as well. Hopefully it'll start to warm up soon, and without inches of snow.

Idina was out of the show Sunday due to illness. Does anyone know if she's been back? Did she stage door Tuesday or yesterday? I was going to try tonight but its colder now than I thought it was going to be.

She's been back since Tuesday and even managed both Wednesday shows. But she probably hasn't stage doored. Menzel just tweeted an apology about disappearing (from social media I presume) when she gets sick and depressed, even.

I'm seeing The Heidi Chronicles tonight and thought I would try the If/Then stage door ... still trying to get LaChanze and Idina to sign my poster.
I don't have high hopes given that she has been sick but you never know. I really think a lot of them stopped coming out because of both the cold and the overwhelming crowds. It's a big time commitment even to just sign for that many people. Except Jenn Colella who as far as I can tell never fails to come out because she's the coolest.

Jenn doesn't always come out. Of the three times I stagedoored, Jenn only came out once. James and Anthony came and signed all three times, though, even when it was dismally cold.

Oh that's funny - Jenn has been the only consistent one in my 3 visits. Last time she was the only person at all. I watched Anthony walk out the main entrance as I was getting my car from the lot across the street. Every day is different I guess :)

Nope LaChanze never has and I had heard that she was pretty regular. But I've only done this in the winter and it's been so miserably cold, so my experience is probably skewed.

I've gone in both winter and summer with pretty much everyone but LaChanze coming out after the summer performance and one of the winter shows, and none but James and Anthony the second time in winter, months later. (Actually, Idina came out two of those times, even though I've heard she often doesn't show. The first time she even took pictures.)

I stopped by the stage door last night after seeing another show. I thought I would be early and get a spot but ended up getting there just as If/Then was getting out so it was cramped and miserable. Lots of people from out of town.

Headline: No Idina. I wasn't expecting her seeing as she has been sick and again I think they give a heads up that the line is crazy. I actually saw her getting into her car at the main entrance as I was getting in my car across the street after I gave up.

It wasn't a total bust though because on my 4th try I finally got to see LaChanze. She signed my poster and we were able to chat for a second and I told her I'd be there on 3/22. She was really sweet. James Snyder & Jenn Colella came out as did Janet Krupin & Deedee Magno Hall. No Anthony Rapp.
