No! Please no! What's wrong with the Brooks Atkinson Theatre? Did another show already nab it?

Really? I would think most theaters are wide-open. And if they aren't, they will be in a few months.

I've heard rumors that this isn't so great. The Burnt Part Boys was excruciating to sit through, which was by the same team.

Failing to secure a house certainly sounds more like: this isn't ready. They wouldn't have to cancel the Boston try out just because they hadn't yet secured a b'way house.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I had heard they'd already booked a house so if it IS true there must be another reason. I am so bummed about this, saw the Tysen/Miller 54 Below show on Sunday and everything they did from the show was great. Whatever is happening I hope they work it out before Sadie Sink grows out of the role because she is incredible.

Agreed. "Lack of a theatre" = "lack of cash".

Seems like a great show, but I don't think it has the spectacle that a lot of kids shows on Broadway have.

There really are a lack of theatres for the fall. The problem is that a lot of shows that had been hoping to open in Spring 2013 had to delay to the fall and it is creating what is shaping up to be a busier than usual fall. I highly doubt that a lack of funds is the problem. Broadway Across America, Howard & Janet Kagan Barry Brown could fund the entire thing if they wanted to. But delaying is actually the responsible thing to do if you don't have a theatre to go into. I suspect we'll see other shows postpone until the spring or summer for the same reason.

I've never heard of a show selling tickets that had no theatre secured. Were the tickets being sold for the Boston dates? Or New York?

still doesn't explain canceling the out of town try out, thats still going to need to happen so why cancel it? Im sure Andrew Keenan is really pissed though that he left a plum gig at Newsies for this.

Why do producers feel the need to make these ridiculous claims like "There are no Broadway theaters available for the fall." An out of town tryout is supposed to be for fixing problems with a show. They weren't going to take the Boston production and put it on Broadway a month later without knowing how reviews out of town are and whether or not the show needs more work. There will be a number of vacancies this fall on Broadway. There always are.

Anyone who knows anything about theatre knows this, so why gloss over the truth with a bunch of BS?

But aren't there a ton of theaters open for the fall? I mean most of the shows playing right now are just limited engagements. And things like "First Date" aren't going to run for awhile. Does that "Always...patsy cline" show have a theater?

I had it on good authority that Ben Sprecher has stopped producing Broadway shows.

I imagine Riedel will be all over this. But the truth is, I can't imagine that there were very many people ready to race to the box office with a hundred and fifty dollars waving in their hot little hands to get in for this one.

I don't feel that bad for AKB, he had a solid paycheck that he walked away from.
