Motown is once again following in the tradition of 20 years of productions (exceptions being Ghost and A Christmas Story) that played the Lunt and got/will likely get critical pans, but retain a great deal of selling power despite their notices. (Titanic, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Addams Family)
Good for Cinderella for remaining in the million dollar club and still selling a healthy percentage of tickets with its rear mezzanine opened.
Kinky Boots is doing pretty well for previews despite Cinderella, Matilda and Motown's making its sales looking pretty lackluster.
Matilda's doing amazing.
Annie and Newsies are holding up extremely well will the the flood of family/kid friendly musicals.
I hate to say this but I don't think Nice Work will live to see the summer.
Grosses will likly increase sharply over the next two weeks due to this week being most of the country's spring break, and the following week being NY's spring break.

Beautywickedlover, that's a little deceptive. Cinderella actually sold more tickets this past week than the prior week, but the capacity changed because they are no longer curtaining off the rear mezzanine. There are about 300-400 more seats on sale now, which is why the comparison was not entirely accurate, as the percentage of capacity was based on a different number. 12,000 bodies in the seats is a pretty good number.

Wow! Congrats to Motown! I'm surprised Matilda hasn't hit one million by know, but they are still in previews and most people don't like to see shows in previews.
I was at the Lunt buying future tickets for Motown just after the Saturday matinee had let out. I talked to several people who had just seen it and it was all raves.
MOTOWN has a GREAT logo. Which ever graphic designer came up with the idea of using the record company logo as the starting point for the show logo should get an special Tony. I have no doubt that the logo is helping to sell the show -- plus it has all those fantastic Motown songs. So what if the book sucks, audiences want the songs.

Lucky Guy is doing incredible business, its should recoup and make a profit pretty easily although I imagine Hanks is getting a percentage of the gross along with his salary.
But didn't Baby, It's You have great songs and sh*tty book? So.... I'm not saying this show will go the way that one did, but I think it needs to have a relatively interesting story or else it's just going to fall flat.
BABY ITS YOU was about 1 girl group, The Shirelles. This is MOTOWN, home of The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Little Stevie Wonder, Martha and the Vandellas, The Jackson Five, and many , many others. Four decades of hits, known worldwide.

Uh, with the exception of Beauty and the Beast all those shows flopped badly. So much for "selling power".

Also Baby It's You was a story about Florence Greenberg and I am not sure she is well-known outside (maybe even inside) music business. That's why I think Bette's show might have tough time later this season.
I liked it when I saw it Friday, but RIP "Hands on a Hardbody"...with those sales at that average ticket price, it's dead man walking before Opening Night...
Great numbers for Lucky Guy and Motown. Can't wait to see both!!
Broderick has already been announced as leaving on June 15th. Unless they get a name for the role, my guess is the show will close then. Considering MB was out Sat & Sun, the numbers for the show were pretty strong. I read recently that Stamos has just signed for a role on an existing USA network show, just can't remember the name right now.They may squeeze the summer with the right replacement but time will tell.
The only review of a show that matters is your own.
I wonder how close Nice Work is to recouping? I guess if it likely to recoup by June then they'll probably just close it when Matthew Broaderick leaves, recasting is risky and could lead to a huge drop in sales as we saw with How to Succeed when Nick Jonas replaced Darren Criss.
