Reading "Not Since Carrie" for the countless time, and missing his writing. Anyone know what he's up to? Had heard a while back his health wasn't the best, but hope he re-appears somewhere and gives up more great musings on musical theatre.
Thanks for mentioning Ken Mandelbaum. I miss his voice in the theater community. Naturally, he's been on my mind lately with shows like LEAP OF FAITH and most recently, REBECCA.
Ken was my neighbor for many years, and a close friend of friends, and I miss his writing too. No one was more incisive or knowledgeable about musical theatre than Ken; he spoke so authoritatively about shows even before his time, in the way Ethan Mordden does. Come back, Ken, we miss you!

It's fascinating to me that after all these years, I've never heard one explanation of why he stopped writing...was it illness? Apathy? Writer's block?
Personally, I really miss him.
Behind the fake tinsel of Broadway is real tinsel.
