Anthony Warlow is busy and has said he is not interested in being in LND. He's playing the title role in a new musical, Doctor Zhivago, for 8 weeks, beginning February 11, 2011.
Meh. I guess I could/will catch this because N2N will be on at the same time though.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Judging by the other articles about this news, it seems that the book will not be fixed and that is the biggest problem with this musical. If they want to show to succeed elsewhere the book needs to be fixed.
Warlow is doing Dr Zhivago in Melbourne as well. Mary Poppins closes in March and moves to Sydney. Zhivago opens May at Her Maj.
Rock of Ages will still playing at the Comedy
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Sorry to Hijack but rosscoe, (because I find the selling and releasing of tickets perplexing), are there limited orchestra seats for Dr Zhivago because they are actually sold, or do they release them later?

Most likely limited. Groups for this would be huge, they would have sold it, to every group booking company.
The grannnies will be out in force and every other group...This will be sold on warlow's name alone.
And since it's since a limited run, I would grab what ever I could find that was a good seat

While the London production is certainly not Jack O'Brien's finest hour this is not the problem with LND. They can glitz it up all they like - the show as it stands does not work.
Seriously...I'm totally excited for Melbourne, BUT IS THIS SHOW EVER GOING TO OPEN IN NEW YORK CITY?!?! Like, Really?!?! I have a trip planed for this summer just to see it, but I doubt it will be opened by then! IT NEEDS TO OPEN IN NEW YORK!!!
According to the newspapers here, they are doing some "restructuring" with the book. Though from what l understand, its going to take a hell of a lot more than a few changes to make this turkey work. Financially, it is a smart decision, as it'll get general public crowds in Melbourne, because of the "Phantom" name. l'm also excited to see what Simon Phillips will do with the budget that this show will no doubt bring with it. 2010 is shaping up to be a big year for Mr. Phillips. His first Broadway show, a big new mega-musical, a production of Hamlet at Melbourne Theatre Company, and then directing Geoffrey Rush as Lady Bracknell in The lmportance of Being Ernest at the end of the year. So hopefully his skill manages to shine through the shoddy material that is "Love Never Dies".
"I will join this conversation on the proviso that we stop bitching about people. Wigs, dresses, bust sizes, penises, nightclubs and bloody Kylie!" - Bernadette, Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical
My guess is most people can;t believe that will actually be the logo and not some quickly put together thing fro the press for right now. That mask reminds me of the crappy CD covers you see for the knock-off Phantom CDs. Although, if we are being technical, when Phantom was in Brussels the Phantom had a mask that looked just as bad as the one used here.
I do however like the gold shiny text, but the silver shiny text works better.
