is there anyway to get the filmed version of Shrek on Broadway, without buying the d.v.d.? I live in Scotland and can't exactly pick it up from the theatres, and don't have PBS on my TV.
any information or links to download would be appreciated, on the highest level! haha thanks!
I'm with Dolly. Shrek and Legally Blonde get immortalized and Grey Gardens does not. Ugh!!!!
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
Kids will bug their parents silly for Shrek whereas Patti's Rose may scare small children. That said it is a tragedy that more QUALITY productions are available. I would love to have a copy of Ragtime or Finian's Rainbow or Parade or Assassins...or well I could be here all night.
GREY GARDENS, the stage musicals, was based on a movie. The new GREY GARDENS film by HBO is NOT the musical. So no, GREY GARDENS (the musical) is not "immortalized."
I'm aware that SHREK was filmed for a DVD release, but I was not aware that the DVD is available for purchase!? Did I miss the release?? I don't see how...
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I still think we'll see some sort of combo release package when Shrek Forever After arrives on DVD.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
So apparently it's on Pay-Per-View/On Demand at certain hotels in New York? A friend just texted me a few months ago and said she saw it on her hotel TV...
I would love to see this on DVD. I saw the show on Broadway and even though it is far from perfect it is a lot of fun and the sets and special effects were pretty awesome.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
"Ashford told me recently that he and his associates have re-staged a lot of numbers and he has worked closely with Moore on making audiences care more about the title character. ‘I think you’ll be happily surprised,’ he said. a filmed version of the Broadway show was screened to theatrical agents in London and scores of actors have been seen for the four main roles of Shrek, Princess Fiona, Lord Farquaad and Donkey."
