I will be visiting the city in late May. I have tickets for La Gage, American Idoit, Hair, & the Addams Family. I have room for 3 more shows, but I have 5 that interest me. They are--Lend Me A Tenor, Red, Next Fall, A Little Night Music, & Promises, Promises. Any help will be appreciated.

Those are only 4 shows, and I would go see A Little Night Music, Lend Me A Tenor, and Promises, Promises.

wdwfreak, he listed 5 shows:
1) Lend Me A Tenor
2) Red
3) Next Fall
4) A little Night Music
5) Promises, Promises

To the OP, of the 5 you listed, I would choose Lend Me a Tenor, A Little Night Music, and Promises, Promises.

^ I think there were originally only 4, though.

OP: I haven't seen all of those shows, but I would definitely recommend Red. It was a little dense, but I really enjoyed it and am still mulling it all over.

DON'T SEE Promises, Promises (unless you will die without ever seeing Sean Hayes & Kristen Chenoweth) before seeing A Little Night Music, Next Fall, & Lend Me a Tenor

Of course it depends on your taste, but of the shows you have listed, RED is really great. Alfred Molina gives an amazing performance. The play is pretty dense though, so if that is not your thing, maybe one of the other shows would be better for you.

See ENRON. Saw it in London and it was unlike anything I've ever seen. Never a dull moment and you don't need to be "business savvy" to understand it at all--they make it very entertaining. There's also lots of singing, dance, cool techno music, and video so it's definitely not your average "play."

Don't miss Night Music! It was probably the best show I've seen in the last decade or so!

Lend Me a Tenor and Red, for sure. Make sure you catch those two.

As for the third, either Next Fall or A Little Night Music. Next Fall is a very good -- not great -- new American play, and A Little Night Music is a pretty good production of a great show -- take your pick.

See Chicago, the current cast isn't the best, but I think it's the best technical show on Broadway. I also liked West Side Story a lot, although I know there are a lot who feel differently. In the Heights is also great.

Lend Me a Tenor is hilarious and I hear wonderful things about Next Fall and Red, also.

Why are people suggesting shows the OP doesn't want to see? He said there were 5 shows that interested him, and needed to pick 3. Clearly he/she has done research and wants to see 3 of the 5 shows he mentioned.

Just about to post the same thing, AG.

To agree with another poster: I'd put Promises, Promises as a last choice.

tatter47, I know this wasn't in your original post, but have you seen Next to Nomral or Billy Elliot? No interest? Because they are both fantastic. You're in for a treat with Hair though!

I say go with Next Fall, Tenor and Red.

I would definitely recommend Next Fall and A Little Night Music of those. I haven't seen Red or Lend Me A Tenor yet but I've been hearing great things about both.
