It's only 5:00. The curtain doesn't even go up for another hour and a half.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

OH, my bad.... I thought it was a 2:00 curtain being that's been the Sunday time since the first preview.

Not sure who wrote this review. It's in the EL PASO INC. To me it reads like a Brantley review. I could be completely off the mark though...what do you think?

In any event - it's MIXED to FAVORABLE, whoever wrote it:

WTF is El Paso Inc.??

ETA: the link in that article contains "NYT." Could that really be Brantley's review? Updated On: 11/15/09 at 06:15 PM

It definitely reads like a Brantley review.

I really think there's a bit of an overload on comparing the '09 and the '98 productions in this review.

It does read like a Brantley review and if it is, I'm not surprised. It seems to me that his biggest issue with the piece at it's core was the material. No version of the show would ultimately change that. What I took from this review is that this production makes up for the unbalanced or "preachy" story as much as it can. Again, this is only true if that really is Brantley but we'll see.

Is this going to be like the bashing of the original Assassins and praising the revival? Ugh.

That has to be a Brantley review. It sounds just like him. Especially "the radical Emma Goldman (a rousing Donna Migliaccio)." He loves to just slip those little descriptors for minor characters that stand out into parentheticals.

The website has an entire section dedicated to the New York Times. Look at the middle column on this page I've linked below. I wonder if they have some kind of deal with the Texas publication.

It's not bad either.

If that is Brantley, it's probably the best I think most expected. He isn't a fan of the material so it's not like he'd rave about the production anyway. He seems to mainly have issues with the material, not the production. Updated On: 11/15/09 at 07:21 PM

While it's not terribly negative, I doubt that is what the producers want from the NY Times (if it is).
