This is sublime casting. I'm glad the Benanti rumor didn't pan out. This seems much more interesting. Will be interesting to see Foster is a role that isn't heavy on the dancing (well, I guess Little Women counts but that was a stinker of a show).
Hope the Esparza and Peters rumors are true.
Wonder if that trio could spark interest in a full fledged revival. I'm in the minority that doesn't think this show has many flaws. I find it pretty ingenious and ahead of its time. Maybe its time has come.
This being a concert I wouldn't say she's reviving a role in the traditional sense. But she did Me and My Girl is stock a few years ago, Peppermint Patty in a Snoopy! concert, did the Chess concert, and was one of the Fanny Brice's in the Actor's Fund Funny Girl.
I'm not a big fan of Foster's but she's right for the part and she's probably the best candidate around. It's also a musical-comedy role, which suits her.
rOcKs, I think people were saying Bernadette Peters is going to play Cora Hoover Hooper, not Fay Apple.
Sutton's not who I would've thought of, but she's definitely got some great comic chops.

Slightly OT: Are they going to announce the cast for Girl Crazy soon? Or does anyone know of who's rumored for it?

This is good news! Can't wait to see the concert. The only production I have seen was the one by York Theater Company back in 1994. Anyone else remember that production? Updated On: 10/15/09 at 03:08 PM
This news makes me so happy. I have been waiting for Sutton to take part in an Encores show. I'll look forward to seeing it.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I'm glad I saw LuPone, Ceveris and McDonald in Anyone Can Whistle at Ravinia, all of whom were brilliant in their roles (especially Patti). Now I don't feel like I'm necessarily missing anything at yet another Encores I can't attend.

Matt, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Patti as Cora again. I didn't see the Ravinia production, but I've heard she was fabulous.
