Oh Jesus Christ. Like just when most people were letting the go. I get what she is saying here but at the end of the da6 Barrett is not forcing people to purchase a video from her. Those that have chosen ti give to charity should be admired but it shouldn’t be expected. I just don’t understand why people want to make this into more than it needs to be.

I also think it’s a bit childhish that she couldn’t even name Barrett by name. Like sure everyone here and online knows who she is referring to but to write a whole blog post as an essential subtweet to someone? Weak sauce.

Since the summer, I've noticed that  more and more Broadway names got on there. Saw that David Cook got on there yesterday so I decided to try this thing out... He was so dang nice at the Kinky Boots stage door over the summer. His was 30 dollars and it said I wouldn't get charged until I received the video.. Well, I just received a really nice 30 second video from him! He's been doing a lot of work with cancer charities for the past decade so I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to there...

Obviously, actors have no obligation to stage doorand it's wonderful that she's trying to provide an alternative that she's more comfortable with. That being said I don't think anybody should pay anybody for a video message because it just seems like a waste of money but I don't see why Barrett's fans are complaining when she didn't have to give them this alternative at all."

I think doing Cameo is just plain snobby unless you're giving the money to charity like Kerri Buttler is doing Cameo should make it mandatory to give to charity.

Why?   Because you feel entitled for actors attention/autographs for free?

A cute reminder to you all that YOUR time is precious and nobody is entitled to it. Similarly, nobody is entitled to Barrett’s precious time. Her charging for that time is her right as a human being, and frankly, it’s smart as hell. Stagedoor is fun, but it’s also like working overtime without getting paid for it.

Kill this asinine thread.

As somebody who can't stand Barrett Wilbert Weed as a singer or an actress... I think it's ridiculous to criticize her for this. If you don't like how she elects to spend her time outside of the show she's in, that's your problem. And you should probably start caring more about other things in life.

I changed my mind on the whole situation recently, so I give this a big retweet.

I just hope all of the Bway folks who are using Cameo (and their agents, PR reps, etc.) are aware of this, and screening their Cameo requests accordingly...

They are all out of work. The fans are thrilled to get a video and they are happy to make them. Win Win.

I agree! I think Cameo is fine. It's fun to get a personalized message and it's a good gift. People were waaay too hard on her for doing it, grown adults like Michael Park in her Instagram comments saying he hopes she donates it to charity. I understand how monetizing fan experiences can seem tasteless to some but at the end of the day, these people don't owe you anything (besides a performance on stage).

It's too bad she was one of the first and took all the heat.
