The faculty of Shelton State's Visual and Performing Arts Division invites you to a day of activities especially planned for students who have applied for visual and performing arts scholarships. In addition to auditions and interviews, students will have an opportunity to tour the Sandra Hall Ray Fine Arts Centre located on the Shelton State Martin Campus.
AUDITION DAY ACTIVITIES - APRIL 2, 2010
8:30 - 9:00 a.m. - Registration in the lobby of the Bean-Brown Theatre
9:00 a.m. - Convocation in the Alabama Power Foundation RecitAl Hall
9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Auditions and tours as scheduled during registration period
All auditions and interviews are closed.
Family and friends are invited to visit the campus at another time. Visits may be arranged by calling the Shelton State Counseling Center at 205.391.2469. Parents or friends accompanying students on April 2 will be asked to wait in the theatre rehearsAl Hall during the audition/interview period.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ART
• Applicants should bring a portfolio of eight to 10 pieces of work or slides of work.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MUSIC
• Instrumentalists should be prepared to play two pieces in contrasting tempo and style and to sight read.
• Pianists should play from memory.
• Vocalists should sing two pieces from memory in contrasting tempo and style. Vocalists may bring an accompanist, use the accompanist provided by the college, or bring a tape/CD accompaniment.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THEATRE
• Actors should bring a prepared monologue 60-90 seconds in length.
• Designers and technical theatre applicants should bring a design portfolio.

SCHOLARSHIPS
VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of demonstrated talent in the arts, high school grades, ACT scores, experience in the arts, educational goals, audition performance, and interview.
APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY MARCH 2, 2010
Application packet must be complete, including a copy of transcript, essay, recommendation, and documentation of FAFSA submission. Applications are located on Shelton State's Web site, www.sheltonstate.edu. Applications must be postmarked by March 2, 2010, if mailed, and must be received at the College by the close of business March 2, 2010. Scholarship Award letters will
be mailed prior to May 1, 2010.
