The Howard County Arts Council Seeks Volunteers for 2013 Visual and Performing Arts Summer Camps

CCBC Catonsville Presents OUR TOWN, Beginning 3/14

Academic Theatre at CCBC Catonsville celebrates the 75th anniversary of Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Our Town for its spring production. A classic American play, Our Town explores the ordinary but rather pleasant lives of the community in the fictional town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. March 14, 15 and 16; 3 p.m., March 16 and 17; 10 a.m. March 18 (SOLD OUT) and 1 p.m. March 19 (Nearly sold out) in the Q Theatre at CCBC Catonsville, 800 South Rolling Road, 21228. Tickets are extremely limited for all performances and reservations are strongly encouraged. Children's Playhouse of Maryland to Stage Disney's ALADDIN, JR., Now thru 3/17

The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at CCBC Essex, presents Disney's Aladdin, Jr., beginning this weekend at CCBC Essex. The production features a cast of more than 30 student actors from Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Harford County. Shows will run at 1 p.m. today, March 2 and March 3, 9-10, 16 and 17 and 4 p.m. March 10 that will be sign-language interpreted by students of the CCBC Interpreter Preparation certification program.

Work, motherhood, missed connections, and prom night form the backdrop of Marisa Wegrzyn's tender, funny new play about three flight attendants and their unlikely companion. Mud Blue Sky is directed by Susanna Gellert and currently in rehearsal at CENTERSTAGE. This World Premiere production begins previews on March 6, and runs through April 14.

National Civil War Project Launches Today with CENTERSTAGE, University of Maryland and More

The National Civil War Project, a radical multi-city, multi-year collaboration between four universities and five performing arts organizations to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War, launched today and includes the state theater and the flagship university of the state of Maryland. CENTERSTAGE in Baltimore and the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland are collaborating on this national project, commissioning several original theatrical productions and creating new arts-integrated academic programs. CENTERSTAGE and the Clarice Smith Center are one of four regional pairings participating in this national partnership.

Everyman Theatre has announced the cast of the Tony Award-winning comedy, God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza. Resident Company Members Megan Anderson, Deborah Hazlett, and Bruce Randolph Nelson will be joined onstage by celebrated DC actor Christopher Bloch. The comedy is the second production in Everyman's new home located in downtown Baltimore, which opened this January.
