Local Critics

Cybele Pomeroy

Cybele Pomeroy

Cybele Pomeroy graduated from Loyola College, before it had grown up and become Loyola University, where she studied writing, literature, education and drama. She never studied costuming, improv or physical comedy but does them anyway. Cybele has been writing theater reviews since 2013, but still hasn't seen Cats, Les Mis, Our Town or Death Of A Salesman. She's equally passionate about Hamlet and Harvey, for different reasons. She is astonished at how much she loves The SpongeBob Musical. Her first name rhymes with "seashell," not "quibble."

Jack L. B. Gohn

Jack L. B. Gohn

A retired lawyer, and a theater critic of many years’ standing, with over a decade reviewing for BroadwayWorld, Jack Gohn is now writing plays as well as reviewing them. He is a member of the American Theatre Critics Association and the Dramatists Guild. His plays have been produced by Baltimore's Rapid Lemon Productions and Spotlighters Theatre, and he has penned an upcoming production by the Theatrical Mining Company. See www.jackgohn.com.

Lisa A. Crayton

Lisa A. Crayton

A native New Yorker transplanted to Maryland, I am a freelance writer, author, collaborative writer (ghostwriter) and editor passionate about the theater having been introduced to the arts through my family and a theater class in high school that allowed seniors to attend and review shows (as a class essay assignment). What I love most about live theater is watching actors and listening to orchestras bring a story to life and the audience’s communal joy and appreciation. That is why this year especially I am re-exploring my passion for the theater through attending various shows and through my first volunteer role with a film festival, the March On! Film Festival. My favorite play is West Side Story or perhaps Mama I Want to Sing! (I’m dating myself), but there are many more recent productions I absolutely love too! Among other things, I also provide manuscript development services (including ghostwriting, developmental editing, and sensitivity reading) to book publishers, independent authors, and other clients. The author of 19 books, including 18 for children and teens, and co-author of seven others, her credits include Only Light Can Do That: 60 Days of MLK – Devotions for Kids, a finalist in the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association’s 2025 Christian Book Awards.
