(01/13/2015) - Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET), Frederick's largest producing non-profit theater, launched a Capital Campaign in September of 2013 to raise funds for an additional performance venue and alterations to the existing facilities. On January 10, 2015 MET celebrated the completion of the Stage2: The Greene Space venue and numerous other capital improvements with a ribbon cutting ceremony, hours of free activities for families, and an evening of comedy and music. (12/11/2014) - Red Branch Theatre Company (RBTC) will stage its final production of the 2014 season entitled On Love & Loss with the family-friendly A Year With Frog & Toad. A Year With Frog and Toad magically brings the treasured characters created by Arnold Lobel in the 'Frog and Toad' book series to life. Best friends Frog and Toad hop through four seasons filled with fun while rejoicing in their differences and reveling in their friendship. (09/26/2014) - The Pumpkin Theatre's ALADDIN & THE MAGIC LAMP is a colorful and charming version of the famous fairy-tale. My delightful five-year-old guest became so engrossed in the story she forgot to sit down and looked like she might fly onto the stage to rescue the hero and his princess from the evil clutches of the dastardly villains. It's always heartening to see the digital generation put aside their gadgets and fall under the spell of classic theater.
(09/19/2014) - For Baltimore theater goers, a show at the Hippodrome is a must-see experience. The ornate charm of this historical gem sets an anticipatory air of excitement for the audience. It's proven to be versatile in its staging of both new and old Broadway whether elaborate or intimate. The most recent production, ONCE, is a successful example of the Hippodrome's ability to stretch and contract its personality to fit the style of a small indie movie as well as any elaborate Disney extravaganza.
(09/02/2014) - Everyman Theatre began rehearsals today for the 2014/15 season opener, The Understudy. Theresa Rebeck's comedic look into the backstage world of show biz runs through September 28th. The three-person cast features Everyman Resident Company Members Clinton Brandhagen,Danny Gavigan and Beth Hylton. Joseph W. Ritsch makes his Everyman directorial debut with the production. (08/27/2014) - Annie Oakley is the best shot around. And when she's discovered by Buffalo Bill, he persuades this novel sharpshooter to join his Wild West Show. It only takes one glance for her to fall head over heels for the dashing shooting ace Frank Butler. She soon eclipses Butler as the main attraction which, while good for business, is bad for romance. Butler hightails it off to join a rival show, his bruised male ego leading the way, but is ultimately pitted against Annie in a final shoot-out.

(05/02/2014) - Hailed as 'flat-out funny!' by the Hollywood Reporter, By the Way, Meet Vera Stark makes its Baltimore/DC premiere at Everyman Theatre, running from today, April 16th through May 11th. Resident Company Member Dawn Ursula will play the title role of Vera Stark, alongside fellow Company Members Beth Hylton and Wil Love. Walter Dallas makes his Everyman directorial debut with the regional premiere.

Playwright Marie Jones and actors Clinton Brandhagen and Todd Lawson take an old story and make it new by presenting it as a two-man play. (01/22/2014) - Tickets are now on sale for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Drama Learning Center in Columbia. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee centers around a fictional spelling bee in Putnam Valley Middle School. Quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by equally quirky grown-ups. The 2005 Broadway production was nominated for six Tony Awards, and won two, including Best Book. As with the original Broadway production, this iteration will also involve audience participation.
