As seen in my last blog, I’ve been thinking a lot about self-care and how that can mean different things for different artists. Finding footing at the beginning of a new semester can be difficult, but I’m extremely lucky to be surrounded by such incredible humans whom I can turn to for guidance.

At the end of the day, it’s not about becoming a totally new person for me. It’s about showing up for myself in ways that actually matter. Whether that’s taking more dance classes, getting out of the school bubble, or being kinder to myself, I want growth to feel tangible instead of overwhelming.

Being home and slowing down for a moment has made me realize just how much I needed this rest, especially after such a busy, jam-packed semester. Allowing time to recharge helps create space for presence and motivation, reminding me that rest is not separate from the process but an absolutely necessary part of it.

The brief in-between space is where preparation meets presence for me, and where my nerves begin to fade. It’s the place where I get to step fully into my work, remembering everything I’ve learned and prepared for, and leading with confidence and love for what I do and the stories I get to tell.

Pursuing theatre definitely comes with its challenges, so it’s incredibly important to find a place that not only supports you in becoming the best version of yourself but also keeps you feeling inspired and excited to create.

The truth is (as we know, especially as artists), we are always going to face change, whether that be casting decisions, jobs, or even our own expectations. As actors, we are always taught “the show must go on”… right? Learning to adapt to these shifts, no matter their form, has become just as important as any plan I could make, and here's why.

As much as I have always loved having a very well-laid-out schedule for myself and participating in whatever I can, I’ve also learned how important self-care is, especially in a program that requires so much from you each and every day.
