Alan Henry

A longtime theatre fan, Alan Henry has been with BroadwayWorld since 2012 and currently resides in NYC. A native of Toronto, Canada - Alan began with BroadwayWorld as a Contributing Editor, before taking over as the Senior Canadian Editor. Following a relocation to New York, Alan is currently BroadwayWorld's Director of Digital Strategy and Regional Media.

Alan has had the pleasure of interviewing several Tony, Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar nominees and winners including Alan Menken, Idina Menzel, Lea Salonga, Stephen Schwartz, Louise Pitre, Jenn Colella, Victoria Clark, Montego Glover, among others.

Alan is thrilled to get to work with Broadway productions in New York and theaters across the globe to connect audiences and artists on BroadwayWorld's platforms. Alan also works with BroadwayWorld's contributors around the globe, focusing on expanding our coverage in each of our markets.

Theatre 20's highly-anticipated production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's Company will play the Berkeley Street Theatre Downstairs from June 21 to July 13, 2014. Artistic Board Chair Adam Brazier today announced the creative team and revealed that the role of 'Robert' will be played by Theatre 20 Founding Artist Dan Chameroy.

Casting has been announced for the Toronto engagement of Disney's THE LION KING. Toronto's most eagerly awaited stage production ever will leap onto the Princess of Wales Theatre stage from Wednesday April 30 to Sunday June 15. The award-winning musical premiered in Toronto in April 2000 at the Princess of Wales Theatre where it played 1,560 performances through January 2004 and returned in 2011 for an eight-week sold-out engagement.

Will Flashdance be the Mirvish Mystery Musical playing Toronto in December/January 2013? The show, which has three Canadians on it's creative team was announced to play Toronto in 2012, but that fell through. The production was also scheduled to open on Broadway in the 2013-2014 season, but that too has been postponed.

The new tango-focused stage show playing Toronto's Panasonic Theatre is passionate, sexy, and incredibly original. The title character, Arrabal, loses her father as a baby after he is arrested by the military. The story then goes forward 18 years - showing Arrabal becoming a young woman and learning about her father's past in a milonga (tango club) which is run by her father's old friends.

Chilina Kennedy has had to withdraw from the 2014 season for the happiest of reasons: she and her partner, Jacob James, are expecting a baby. She was to play Polly Baker in Crazy for You and Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, but she is now unable to undertake two such physically challenging roles. Ms Kennedy remains a valued member of the Festival family, and plans are underway to include her new concert as part of the 2014 Forum.

As I entered the auditorium of the Royal Alexandra Theatre this afternoon, I was relieved to be inside from the cold, and sat myself down to enjoy what I assumed would be ninety minutes of comfort in my plush seat. My comfort was short lived, however, as soon I found myself enthralled in the play Metamorphosis, adapted by David Farr and Gisli Orn Gardarsson from the short story by Franz Kafka.
