  3. Latino Comedy Project: “GENTRIF*CKED”

In "Gentrif*cked," Emmy-nominated sketch troupe The Latino Comedy Project hilariously attacks the causes and consequences of gentrification in Austin and communities across America.

Praising “Gentrif*cked” in their annual “Best Of Austin” issue, “The Austin Chronicle” said, “‘Gentrif*cked’ shines a much-needed comic light on what rampant development and clueless Anglo hipsterism have wrought in historically Hispanic neighborhoods. Cat cafes, mondo condominiums, relentless cultural bleaching and all its ramifications – all of it, darkly sliced to laugh-inducing ribbons as the Latino Comedy Project makes their sketch-powered stand against the madness.”

Through their trademark mix of live sketches, music and original videos, the Latino Comedy Project (LCP) provides all the hard answers and leaves no one unscathed in “Gentrif*cked”.

ABOUT THE LATINO COMEDY PROJECT

Founded in 1997, The Latino Comedy Project (LCP) is an Emmy-nominated sketch troupe known for its political satire and pop culture parody.

The LCP’s YouTube comedy videos have amassed over 14 million views worldwide. The LCP cast also developed, wrote and starred in an MTV3 comedy branding campaign for which the group received an Emmy nomination. The LCP’s most recent productions “Gentrif*cked” and “Estar Guars!” have enjoyed acclaimed, sold-out runs from Texas to California.

The San Francisco Chronicle hailed the LCP as “hilarious” and “murderously funny.” The Austin Chronicle called them "Hysterical...Snappy writing, immaculate timing, and an animated cast." The Austin American-Statesman said of the Latino Comedy Project, "Bitingly original sketch comedy is alive and well and Latin."

Directed by Adrian Villegas ("Barrio Daze," "Six Mexicans Named Gonzalez") the "Gentrif*cked" cast of writer-performers also includes Cindy Brio (Escandalo Improv, “Estar Guars”), Omar Gallaga (“I Love You So Much” podcast, KUT’s “Texas Standard”), Thelma Rosana (Escandalo Improv, “Estar Guars”), Mical Trejo (“Running Bear,” “Confessions of a Mexpatriate”) and Nick Walker (“Token White Guy”).

They’re bad. They’re brown. They're The Latino Comedy Project.
