City Springs Theatre is the new kid on the block in the ATL theater scene, but they've been making a big splash with their last musical South Pacific. Now they're offering up BILLY ELLIOT, a musical based on the 2000 film. With music by Elton John and book and lyrics by Lee Hall, who also wrote the screenplay, this show boasts ten Tonys and ten Drama Desk awards including best musical in 2008. This is the story of Billy, a motherless boy living with his father in Great Britain during the 1984-85 coal miner's strike. The story promotes the subversion of traditional gender roles, as Billy gives up his boxing gloves in exchange for dancing shoes. He finds himself drawn to dance like a moth to a flame. This is a story of acceptance, tolerance, and love.

The Atlanta Fringe Festival's 7th annual installment will be its biggest and most ambitious outing yet, with 23 performance groups from around the country putting up live theatre, dance, comedy, storytelling and more across six venues throughout four jam-packed days. This year's festival will also, for the first time, feature a free outdoor stage for family-friendly shows and activities, a variety benefit featuring local Atlanta talent, and live performances by some of the three dozen audio artists whose work will be available exclusively at AtlantaFringe.org. There's something for everyone at this year's festival, which takes place from June 3-9 at venues in and around Little Five Points.
Serenbe Institute Appoints New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of The Serenbe Institute for Art, Culture, & the Environment has appointed Jennifer Bauer-Lyons as their second Executive Director succeeding Founding Executive Director John Graham who retired in December 2017. The Serenbe Institute for Art, Culture, & the Environment is the parent company for three award-winning and nationally recognized programming units: AIR Serenbe (founded in 2007), Serenbe Playhouse (founded in 2009) and Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre (founded in 2017). As the Executive Director, Bauer-Lyons will lead the execution and oversight of the strategic direction, operations, and business practices for the $3.5 million organization, while collaborating with the leaders of each of the programming units.
