Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays continues club comedy on the square in downtown Lawrenceville with an audience favorite, Mixed Nuts. Since their appearance last April, folks have been begging us to have these ladies back. Mixed Nuts is a team of the five most hilarious women in Atlanta, and they back for an evening of stand-up comedy with 2 shows on October 23, 2009

Actor's Express partners with the Alliance Theatre to bring Atlanta audiences a staged reading of a powerful new play,The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later (An Epilogue). Directed by Actor's Express Artistic Director Freddie Ashley, the special event takes place on the Alliance's Hertz Stage Monday, October 12, the 11th anniversary of the brutal murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard.
SPOTLIGHT ON: Steve Landes, John Lennon in RAIN - A Tribute to the Beatles at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre October 6 - 11

When the opening chords of a familiar Beatles tune drifts out of the doors of the Fabulous Fox Theatre on October 6th, passers by might just think they stepped back in time 40+ years to Liverpool, England. And if they come see RAIN - A Tribute to the Beatles presented by Theater of the Stars October 6 - 11 they might just succeed in that time travel. RAIN - A Tribute to the Beatles, a show that has been called 'the next best thing to seeing The Beatles,' boasts a repertoire of nearly 200 Beatles favorites, ranging from such beloved songs as 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' and 'Hey Jude' to classic hits including 'Revolution' and 'Come Together.' Leading many of those familiar songs, in the iconic shoes of John Lennon is Steve Landes, and actor/singer/musician that has been performing Beatles-songs for most of his adult life and will be a part of the show when it arrives in Atlanta. I caught up with Steve to learn a little more about his journey.

Conceived, directed and choreographed by Tharp, the musical, which, with permission from the Frank Sinatra Enterprises and the Sinatra family, features original masters of Sinatra's voice, began performances Sept. 15, and officially opened on Sept. 23.

Auditions For NCTC's Production Of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE To Take Place 10/5-6

The Christmas classic ?It?s A Wonderful Life? is the final show at Newnan Community Theatre Company in 2009. Auditions for the play are October 5 and 6 at the theatre. A large cast with roles for all ages is needed. No experience is necessary to audition for a part. Those auditioning will be asked to do a cold reading from the script. Auditions will begin at 7 pm. Actors may attend either evening to try out for a role. Callbacks are October 8. Rehearsals will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings.

Georgia Shakespeare will present two productions throughout October, as well as two special events. The theatre will feature performances of JULIUS CAESAR and A BACCHUS AFFAIR, as well as A Roman Holiday Wine Dinner and a Fall Festival on October 31st. In addition, fall classes for students age 10-18 will begin October 17th.
