The Atlanta Fringe Festival has announced that submissions are now open for the second annual edition of the festival, set to run May 5-9, 2013. Now through January 15, 2013, AFF is accepting submissions for both the Fringe Festival and the Fringe Radio, with submission packets and more information available on their website www.atlantafringe.org.

Newnan Theatre Company is presenting the Atlanta area premiere of David Mamet's "November" from (appropriately) November 8 through November 18. NTC's premiere will take place just two weeks later than the Los Angeles premiere at the Mark Taper Forum, starring Ed Bagley Jr. and Felicity Huffman.

Theatre in the Square to Receive Spirit of Suzi Award

The Suzi Bass Awards have announced Theatre in the Square, founded by Michael Horne and Palmer Wells, as the recipient of this year's Spirit of Suzi Award. The Spirit of Suzi Award recognizes a person or organization that demonstrates the long-term and consistent contribution to Atlanta theatre that embodies the spirit of the late and much-loved actress Suzi Bass, for whom the Awards organization is named.
The Atlanta Opera to Celebrate National Opera Week with #OperaSleuthATL Online Scavenger Hunt

In honor of National Opera Week, The Atlanta Opera is inviting the Atlanta community to participate in #OperaSleuthATL, an Online Opera Scavenger Hunt, October 29 to November 2, 2012. Participants can become "opera detectives" by uncovering clues scattered throughout Atlanta, and photographing progress along the way. Detectives will be challenged to solve opera riddles, find venues, take pictures and submit their evidence to the Atlanta Opera's Facebook and Twitter pages or email using the hashtag #OperaSleuthATL. Today, October 16 through the 21st, Kennessaw State University presents Kander and Ebb's Tony Award-Winning Broadway classic, Cabaret. Performances are Tuesday-Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm at the Howard Logan Stillwell Theatre. This production features choreography by the Off-Broadway choreographer and acclaimed tap dancer Jen MacQueen, who recently choreographed both the new chamber version of Sweet Charity and the premiere of Clyde 'n' Bonnie the musical.

APPLES & ORANGES is based on the memoir of the same name by Vanity Fair writer-at-large Marie Brenner and was originally commissioned by the Manhattan Theatre Club. Academy Award-winning composer John Williams and Academy Award-winning director and producer Steven Spielberg will join the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for "An Evening with John Williams, Steven Spielberg and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra" on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Williams will conduct the Orchestra in selections from his most popular original film compositions while selected movie clips are shown on a giant screen. Mr. Spielberg will host the second half of the concert and will supplement the musical program with anecdotes and insight into the featured films.
Atlanta Symphony Announces October Concerts

Music Director Robert Spano and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will open the 2012-13 season this weekend, October 4 and 6, 2012, at 8:00 p.m., and October 7, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. Acclaimed violinist Midori will return to Atlanta for the Beethoven Violin Concerto. Also on the program will be Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. These concerts will mark the first performances of the Orchestra's 68th season.

The Warsaw Philharmonic, known as the national orchestra of Poland, performs Nov. 2 at Emory's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. The orchestra will perform works by composers Witold Lutoslawski, Frederic Chopin, and Antonin Dvo?ak. The concert is the first in Atlanta since their 2008 sold-out show at the Schwartz Center.
