Yefim Bronfman Performs Feb. 2 at Schwartz Center
Widely regarded as one of the most talented virtuoso pianists performing today, Yefim Bronfman performs at Emory's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 8 p.m. In this solo recital, Bronfman will perform Arabeske in C Major, op. 18 by Robert Schumann; Sonata No. 3 in F Minor, op. 5 by Johannes Brahms; Sergey Prokofiev's Sonata No. 8 in B-flat Major, op. 84; and Sisar (New Work) by Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Highly praised for his solo, chamber, and orchestral recordings and especially admired for his performances of modern Russian repertory, Bronfman's commanding technique and exceptional lyrical gifts have won consistent critical acclaim.
His many accolades include the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize, one of the highest honors given to American instrumentalists, a 2009 Grammy Award nomination for his recording of Esa-Pekka Salonen's piano concerto with Salonen conducting, and a Grammy Award in 1997 for his recording of the three Bartók Piano Concerti with Salonen and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
