The Town Hall, Times Square's landmark concert venue, presents Grammy Award-winning singer Judy Collins, Live in Concert, Friday, May 16 at 8:00PM. Opening for Ms. Collins will be singer/songwriter Amy Speace. Tickets for the show, priced at $40 & $35 are now on sale at The Town Hall Box Office and through Ticketmaster.

The definition of a living legend – for nearly 45 illustrious years, her dulcet tones have graced our ears, and her poetic lyrics have galvanized a generation. She has released more than 49 albums, has had numerous Top 10 hits, Grammy nominations and gold and platinum selling albums. Noted for her rendition of Both Sides Now on her classic 1967 album, Wildflowers. Both Sides Now has since been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Opening for Ms. Collins is engaging poet and storyteller Amy Speace. Speace draws from and overlaps the traditions of country, folk, rock and pop, while weaving through a decidedly American landscape. She has been called one of the most exciting and in-demand new artists to emerge from the downtown NYC acoustic scene.

At 13, Judy Collins made her public debut performing Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos but it was the music of such artists as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, as well as the traditional songs of the folk revival, that sparked Judy Collins' love of lyrics. She soon moved away from the classical piano and began her lifelong love with the guitar. In 1961, Judy Collins released her first album, A Maid of Constant Sorrow, at the age of 22 and began a thirty-five year association with Jac Holzman and Elektra Records. Winning "Song of the Year" at the 1975 Grammy's Awards show was Judy's version of Send in the Clowns, a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical A Little Night Music.

In a recent appearance on ABC's Good Morning America, Judy performed Wings of Angels, the heartbreaking ballad that she wrote about the loss of her son. The song is currently available on Judy Collins Wildflower Festival CD and DVD, which also feature guest artists Arlo Guthrie, Tom Rush and Eric Andersen. This extraordinary concert was filmed at the famed Humphrey's By the Bay in San Diego, CA. Judy Collins continues to create music of hope and healing that lights up the world and speaks to the heart.

"We're very pleased to have the legendary Judy Collins back to grace The Town Hall stage," said Lawrence C. Zucker, The Town Hall Executive & Artistic Director. "With nearly 50 albums recorded, Collins is one of the most prolific artists ever to play here, and we're very happy to bring her and her music to our audience for what will no doubt be a very special evening."

Built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, The Town Hall began as a lecture hall and public forum for debates. Over the decades, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis have graced the stage.  Today the hall flourishes as a popular, affordable venue, boasting the hottest acts in rock, pop, folk, cabaret, world music, comedy and dance, including Billy Joel, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Natalie Merchant, Graham Nash, Liza Minnelli, Cyndi Lauper, Norah Jones, Andre Watts, Henry Rollins, Joe Jackson, Pink Martini, Regina Spector, Brian Adams, Aimee Mann and Dawn Upshaw. For over a decade, The Town Hall has hosted live broadcasts of Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion. Over the past two-and-a-half decades, The Town Hall has produced a number of new and critically acclaimed musical series, which include The Century of Change, Not Just Jazz, Broadway By The Year® and The Broadway Cabaret Festival.

Tickets for Judy Collins are $40 & $35 and available now through TicketMaster,212-307-4100, or www.ticketmaster.com, or The Town Hall Box Office between noon and 6 PM (except Sundays) at 123 West 43rd Street. For more information, please call212-840-2824 and also visit: www.the-townhall-nyc.org.
